The following are my notes from the book Kill Everyone: Advanced Strategies for No-Limit Hold 'em Poker Tournaments and Sit-n-Go's

Still reading; and I am a slow reader, maybe a page or 2 a day to digest the information. Will post each part as I read them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PART ONE
EARLY STAGE PLAY

- LAG early when blinds are small

- ALL-INs can build ‘fear equity’ in which now opponents are afraid to bet against you because they know you’re “fearless” and “willing to put all your chips in”.

- Bluffs should match the story being told with previous actions.

- On a board with 2 suited cards, and one non suited card; If you semi-bluff by raising, you will often get called or reraised by top pair (or less). It’s recommended to call on a flush draw no pair.

- The turn is usually where set holders make their move. So it’s a deceptive time to semi-bluff with flush draws.

- Raise on turn with flush draw looks more like 2 pair or set to an opponent.

- All IN a flush draw on the turn, is often a good way to take down a pot.

- Check on turn is often read as weakness.

-- BLUFFING GUIDE LINES –

+ If a player has commit 50% or more of his chips to a pot; He’ll be hard to bluff.
+ Don’t bluff into big stacks
+ Bluffs that put players tournament life on the line most effective
+ The best players to bluff are medium stacks whom you have covered and stacks that match yours
+ Showing bluffs to your opponents is rarely a good idea.
+ Rubbing a good players nose in a bluff might create a monster. (Don’t show bluffs).

OPTIMAL BET SIZING

+ All Ins may be getting called more frequently than weaker bets among pros; who view a weaker bet as a ‘suck bet’
+ Among Pros; betting big can be read as weak, and betting weak can be read as big.
+ min-raise flop into All in on turn vs early position raises is often a good way to take down a pot
+ Blocker bets are typically 40% of pot and to prevent opponent from jamming when you’re out of position.

+ Making frequent small bet raises, and check-raises is an effective tactic to pick up pots you’re not entitled to early in a tournament.

GUIDELINES FOR ACCUMULATING CHIPS

Speculative Hand: “A speculative hand refers to a starting hand that has the potential to develop into a strong hand but is currently not very strong. These hands typically require specific favorable conditions or certain cards on the community board (the flop, turn, or river) to become winning hands. Common examples of speculative hands include suited connectors (e.g., 7♠️ 8♠️) and small pocket pairs (e.g., 4♣️ 4♦️).”

Pointer 1 – When first in; Raise (Including speculative hands) (85% raise; 15% limp/call)

- FIRST IN BET SIZING -
Early Position: 2bb to 2.5bb
Mid Position: 3bb
Late Position: 3bb to 4bb

Occasionally limp UTG or UTG + 1 to bring in AK / AQ without opponents immediately putting you on two high face/ace cards. When you raise big UTG; opponent thinks ‘face/ace cards’.

At an AGGRO table; be more willing to limp with big pairs.

Pros probe for minimum raise threshold; Minimum chips required to induce a fold. This may be as little as 2bb to 2.5bb, even from late position.

RULE OF 5 and 10 (with a speculative hand)

+ If calling a raise costs 5% or less of your stack, call.
+ if calling a raise costs 10% or more of your stack, fold.

+ Calling between 5% and 10% is a decision that should be based on your ability; table position; and the quality of your hand.

*Rule of 5 and 10 applies to opponents chip stack when you have a larger chip stack.

Pointer 2 – Use Position

+ Hand range should expand as you get closer to the button early in tournaments
+ Limp in with speculative hands when multiple people have already limped in pre-flop

Pointer 3 – Pick up orphaned pots

+ When it’s checked to you when you are on the button with rainbow flop, raise 2/3rds pot.
++ If a player check-raises your raise; Fold unless you have a solid hand.

+ From early position; if a flop is checked around, bet the turn; more so if a seemingly inconsequential card hits.

Pointer 4 – Identify the tight/timid players

+ Look for straightforward players that can be manipulated

Pointer 5 – Don’t get busted with aces post-flop in an unraised pot

“Aces are either going to win a small pot or lose a large one.” - Doyle Brunson (SuperSystem)

Pointer 6 – Play medium pairs similar to small pairs

+ Medium pairs are 77 - JJ

Pointer 7 – Don’t overthink a weak bet

+ Be willing to reraise a weak bet

Pointer 8 – Don’t be afraid to commit all your chips early, if the situation warrants

+ Take calculated risks to win big events
+ Being willing to all in creates ‘Fear Equity’

Pointer 9 – Make Adjustments For Online Play

+ Online MTT looser than Live MTT (Esp. in Early Stage)
+ Adjust by Overbetting Big Hands & Bluffing Less Frequently
+ Online MTT players tend to call big bets, and even All-Ins which they view as steal attempts
+ Bluffing may see more success in late tournament stages as competition improves

- Bullet Point Pointers -

1 – When first in; Raise (Including speculative hands) (85% raise; 15% limp/call)

2 – Use Position

3 – Pick up orphaned pots

4 – Identify the tight/timid players

5 – Don’t get busted with aces post-flop in an unraised pot

6 – Play medium pairs similar to small pairs

7 – Don’t overthink a weak bet

8 – Don’t be afraid to commit all your chips early, if the situation warrants

9 – Make Adjustments For Online Play

Repost there if you want to. I probably won't be able to update when i finish other parts due to my propensity for bans. I'm at 20 of 100 points until I'm banned permanently.

I've asked mods to just go ahead and give me the perma. I know myself; I know I'll be banned way more.
