The timing is terrible. They should have waited until legislation had passed. All this does is create a Goliath that all the other tribes and cardrooms will be against. And that is going to make it tough to pass any legislation at all.

That's what I thought too. Why do you think they decided to announce then? They can't be that dumb

The other "gang" of indians still have the opportunity to partner with big names themselves. Pechanga and whoever can partner PartyPoker or 888 and have a very competitive product.

That's honestly the best outcome because there wouldn't be as many networks cutting up the player pools.

I know! The committee isn't necessarily being outright critical... but they are asking him to explain himself re: their history of involvement in this issue.

Fact is, he just doesn't make ANY sense.

WOW! They are now taking him apart!

He's Adelson's man. You can guess what he said.

"Online gambling bad"
-"But don't you guys offer online gambling"
"Yes, but online gambling bad"

Awesome hearing. Kind of seems like a done deal from the tone of things.

I love how they made Abboud wait until the end to speak. I also loved the deafening silence when a legislator asked Abboud if his company offers iGaming and Abboud said "Yep, sure do".

I liked the one speaker who advocated letting the normal licensing and regulation process determine who is a bad actor - makes sense to me. With all the talk about lower than expected iPoker revenues so far, by what percentage do you think those revenues would be increased if players had PokerStars as an option?

Not only was Mr. Abboud put on the spot with the question about their own mobile gaming apps, he was forced to fib about their availability. He claimed that you could only use the app within the "four corners" of the casino and since it is a regulated environment, it was okay. (Never mind the fact that there are not regulators/dealers/etc in people's hotel rooms. Dad's in the shower, Junior is on the iPad betting a three game parlay)

But the Venetian website's promotion of their sports betting app paints a completely different picture of it's availability. From their pre-hacked website: "And technology joins sports perfectly with the Cantor Race and Sports Book™ app for all smartphones, tablets and PCs. This allows you to wager anywhere in Nevada."

Has anyone in NV used this app? Is this ad out of date? Or is Mr. Abboud not well informed about their mobile betting products?

only caught the last half hour or so, but became optimistic when the committee cut off that reverend's prohibitionist rhetoric and then told him that prohibition just doesn't work.

the testimony from adelson's lackey was blatant hypocrisy and proven so when the chairman asked him if the sands offer online gambling and he was forced to answer yes. the expression on the chairman's face was priceless.

Abboud managed to directly contradict himself within the space of 10 seconds:

5:10:42 "There is no conceivable way that online gaming could ever
impact our brick and mortar operations."

5:10:52 "Whether (online gaming) hurts brick and mortar casinos
I think is unclear"

Unfortunately, Morongo tipped over the punch bowl at the party. Very good article on the implications of yesterdays hearing and announcement http://californiagambler.com/58205/p...-actor-clause/ and legislation.

Unless the tribes unite the bill will die, if they continue to fight no law will be passed. Tribes are way to powerful to be pushed aside. The clear hope is Pechanga/San Manuel/etc. will believe that Stars will be barred by the regulators.

Question is will Pechanga be willing to take the risk of a competitor having the 800 pound gorilla of poker in the room. If Party/888 others are willing to compete via the other tribes maybe it can pass. May/June will most likely decide this thing.
