Said they seized 9 million in bank accounts and some laptops. I asked what kind of processing he did and he said online gambling and online poker. Absolute was one of them. I asked if he handled ftp and stars and he said no, he wouldn't touch them because they were "too hot." He wasn't really sure what was going to happen to him personally and they obv didn't arrest him on the spot if he was at the gym.

Anyway, nothing new in our lovely world of online poker here in the USA.

Hey, do you know how to get in touch with that guy who got busted? I had an echeckus account and I want to know what is going to happen to some deposits I recently made.

Hey, do you have any information about echeckus? I made a deposit on carbon poker before they shut down and it hasn't hit my account yet. I don't like having money in limbo like this.

Any new news on this? I made a withdraw from echeck.us a day before they were shut down...

Here's an update. I was at the gym yesterday and saw the processor guy. He told me they seized the money and let him and his company off. He is still in business. Maybe not online poker, but still processing.

A couple of times now he has claimed that 3-4 licensees have already been given out. He mentioned Landrys is one who has a license. Also said MGM (i'm 90% sure he said MGM, sorry) had been partnered up with Party Poker all along. The past few times he mentioned the licenses in our conversations I thought maybe he doesn't know what he is talking about and i brushed them off, but now I'm wondering what is he is talking about since he keeps mentioning it. The way he talks, like he is in the know and tight with a lot of people in the online gambling industry leaves me wondering.

There is no agency in the US that is issuing licenses for online gambling. He is confused or lying.

I don't think he is intentionally lying. He doesn't have any reason to lie to me. Probably confused about something...

Some people don't require a reason to lie. They just do it out of habit or hubris.

There once WAS a processor from Houston that simply absconded with money, although that was long before UIGEA. Ask him if his company w as PrePaidATM. If so, the IRS pays a bounty on unreported income.

Hell, what is the name of his CURRENT company, since he is still in business.

As for the licenses stuff, your gym buddy's tales .... they each may have a grain of historic fact at their core, which is spun into something different. MGM did long ago launch an online gaming site offshore. Landrys is owned by the Fertittas, who own much of Station Casinos, which announced a short-lived deal with FTP earlier this year.

I'm doing a bit of research and I'm glad Diamond_Flush is subscribed to this thread as DF may be able to help with info. Also rocketragz, obv.

DF or anyone: This EcheckUS issue is still unresolved and there has been little to no information on it. The SS out of Houston/DOJ either seized this money and made it difficult to make a claim on it/find info, or this guy took off with the money.

Normally I would say it's the latter 100%, but unfortunately the various seizures have gone unreported with no way to make a claim so it's hard to say for sure who the bad guy is here. We can't just say it's this guy because there's no info out there, but it sure looks like he just stole the money. This is why I'm hoping DF or someone was able to find this on forfeiture.gov or something, as otherwise, anyone who lost money here will not be getting it back. It'll be hard enough to make the claim to the Gov, but if this guy stole it you're screwed.

If I had a dog in this fight I'd at least contact Houston officials. This helped a bit in the UMW situation as it at least informed people as to what the situation was, even though eventually the Gov never returned money, they were able to get the money that wasnt taken from the defunct processor if it was "uncleared", meaning it hadn't been sent to the fed's bogus payment processor, which wound up just taking all the money coming in as withdrawals.

So you were lucky if that processor didnt send your money yet, but the money that was sent and frozen by the fake Gov processor was taken and those people have no real way to claim it that I've seen yet.

Contacting them about this EcheckUS case would at least give you an idea if the funds are recoverable. Also, it would be helpful if OP could save people from losing any more money if this guy stole it by telling people what company he came back as.

I haven't seen this guy at the gym in a while, but that doesn't mean much other than maybe i'm just not going at the same time as him since i usually don't get there until the evening now. I'm about 99% positive this guy didn't run off with the money and I'm pretty sure the money was confiscated as he said. Last i talked to him, he turned his processing company into a legitimate business. And as mentioned this guy was a gym acquaintance and i'm not trying to get involved into his personal business, go after him, nor get dragged into his situation. I'm sorry to sound like that and sorry if people have money tied up with his company, but i'm just a poker player who found his situation interesting considering everything. I believed and still believe he was being honest.

PrepaidATM was a scam at the end, operating out of Houston. there was no federal raid, they just folded up and split with money owed..... once they saw they could not run profitably.

pm with what you might know about your gym acquaintance. Your name, which no one has anyway, will stay out of it.

Sorry but this just seems really crazy in my opinion. When has any payment processor ever folded because they weren't making enough money. To process payments in this indsutry before BF, and even before UIGEA was incredibly profitable. I highly doubt PrePaidATM folded because they weren't profitable. Just sayin....

I've posted everything i know in this thread and will continue to do so. I actually don't know the guys name. Also, who says my gym acquaintance had anything to do with PrepaidATM? I'm still confident this guy is telling me the truth about being raided. The reason i know about it, is he was telling my friend who knows him, who has nothing to do with poker, that he was raided. My friend who knows i am involved in poker mentioned it to me.

Well, one could say that about FTP pre BF, but they were pulling some shady business as well.

Cheers, rocketragz. Thanks for the post. I am just more curious than anything, as I didn't lose any money in this. Unfortunately some people did and I was hoping there would be some info on it so they can have an avenue to collect.

I find it especially troubling that there seems to have been seizures of player funds in the past by the feds with no way to make a claim for them and seemingly not publicly accounted for.

Cheers to you as well Nofx Fan as I understand. The impression I got from the guy is that he wasn't like a netteller or Ewallet sevice, but rather just a processor for the sites sending checks and wires which i assume, would leave the players the avenue of talking with the sites just as we had to do whenever FTP or Stars had payout issues pre BF. I say this because he acted like he dealt directly with the sites, even saying pre black friday, that he wouldn't touch stars or fulltilt because they were "hot". I guess he was right.
