for Jude:
First off, Congrats on your poker career, and even more so for just being a stand-up guy (at least as far as the internet can show)
Thanks.
I've been to Ireland a few times and am absolutely in love with it both the land and the people. you've got some beautiful ladies there. I intend to spend prolonged periods of time there if i can get a visa or whatnot. Galway is probably my favorite place thus far, but what do you consider to be the best town/city/area in Ireland?
Well you discovered Galway so its right up there with the best places to be. But i think Kinsale in Cork is a very sweet spot, very idyllic and the people are just srsly nice.
also, how hard is it for an american to live/move there? (if you know =p )
What's your favorite hobby/funtime? play guitar or instruments or anything blahblah etc
Yeah just a get-together with some bros and a few guitars can't be beat.
How do you deal with having 'poker player' be a part of your identity? have you ever have any trouble getting back to basics? (the way you were pre-poker, ego-wise or just where you put your values in life)
Yeah i am definitely known as ''the gambler'' or ''the poker player'' which is fine to an extent but it gets really annoying after a while as i'm sure most of u guys know.
Despite financial security, do you think poker has had a overall positive or negative influence on your life/life outlook?
I mean its a two way street, pros and cons an all that but without a doubt it overall has been a positive experience.
Who or what do you emulate or strive to be like/become? (kind of vague on purpose, just curious)
I know this sounds really cliche but ideally i want to change the world somehow for the better, i do feel pretty unfulfilled by the acquisition of money and making a lot of money was never my goal. I think what Barry Greenstein does is just a perfect example of someone doing what they can to balance out the wealth in the world and that would be something like what i aspire to.
If you ever come to NY and want to chill or check out the nightlife, My time is yours. It's the least i can do for all the hospitality your people have shown me.
Thanks a lot, i was just in NCY a couple months ago an my brother lives there, so do 4 uncles of mine so i'll be back at some point and i'll pm u
Take care
Evan

Re: The well, oldjude.
Thanks for the response. This thread really is one of the best reads on 2p2 ive seen in awhile.
i'm glad about what you said about trying to contribute the world and not caring about the acquisition of money. For whatever reason, its heartwarming and also gives some really good perspective.
be well.

Re: The well, oldjude.
i have family in cork/shannon. been to galway bay a few times. took the boat out to those mountain islands there, forget what they are called. you get to take a horse to the top though on the island to look off this massive ass cliff into the ocean. i also like how ireland has tennis courts everywhere to thrown down on.

yea thats it. dude one time i went when we got to the top it was so damn windy, and this couple was literally sitting off the edge with their feet dangling over the ocean like nutcases. pretty sure you just disintegrate if you fell from that height.

Also, we love it when tourists tell us "erin go bragh"! It lets us know exactly how cool they are!

+1, i used to holiday there all the time as a kid. AFAIK its still pretty unspoiled by the tourist industry.

Makes sense that its very windy there. The wind has a lot of time to pick up speed given that its the last stop between us and the US for 3000 miles.

Re: The well, oldjude.
+1 to loving Ireland. Been there 2x and plan to go back for sure. People are so nice compared to the States and the land is awesome. I didn't love Dublin cuz it was kinda just like any other city (loud, dirty, full of tourists, etc), but I also prob didn't see the best parts. All the countryside was the **** tho, particularly Dingle. Westport and Galway were pretty sweet cities imo.
Are you buying a house in the countryside or close to a city Jude?

hahaha yeah dude i know you would just explode on impact. its so breathtaking with the height and all though. me and my buddies were running around taking pictures, i jumped over this real small gap (like 3 ft) to get to one of the outcroppings, i turned around and looked back at it, and it went all the way down to the ****in water, i was horrified at my lack of comprehension of how the landscape is there lol.
and yeah its windy as ****. its got alotta space to move around out there. its just amazing to look out over the atlantic and think of NY on the other end so far away
