So heres my question for you,
I play 200nl SH 4-6 tables using common sense, image, position and notes to make my decisions.... My math isnt too good, i dont use any sort of math in my game but i think my game is pretty solid. What advice would you give me about using math in my game and how to use it effectively?

Is it a huge weakness to not implement it into my game? And if it is how would you start to implement and practise with it?
Learn how to use pokerstove, its a huge help. As for math in general, i don't consider as important a commodity to a poker player as something like hand-reading.

I think jmans river c/r vs PA, just because there is in depth discussion from the best posters on the forum.

What's this cib in position at high stakes all about? I haven't heard of it. How are people reacting to it?

I can't find any examples but its something i see at high stakes.

Good well. Thanks

You're welcome.

Re: The well, oldjude.

u were saying about the (obviously) big differences between mid-stakes regs and 25/50 regs... lets say hypothetically a 25/50 reg had to play mid-stakes for whatever reason, and had to play it as 'seriously' as he plays high stakes... what winrate do u think he could beat 2/4 - 5/10 for?

Well assuming we are talking about a competent hsnl reg who is truly winning at high stakes, i would say it depends on where his strengths lie. Some of them would probably be able to beat 2/4 for 5 or 6 BB/100 over a large sample and 5/10 for 4-5.

Best way to get reads on your opponents, I know you said before that a question like this was a little general but I often have trouble getting reads on my opponents and specifically wonder the kinds of things you look for.

Please to be posting a pic of graph with red line

Pics of new house please.

Thanks for thread.

Poker is a massively profitable business to get into right now, less so now than in 08 and way way less so than pre-UIGEA but still hugely profitable compared to most other jobs. I mean if you are a smart person and have any kind of natural aptitude for the game you could go from raw-beginner to a $100K/yr+ in a year if you go about it the right way.

So i feel like-given the recession- i honestly can't just walk away from it right now, but believe me i will not be playing poker the rest of my life, i am basically making hay while the sun shines. I plan on doing something a lot more meaningful and fulfilling with my life(though what that is i have not figured out yet). I don't have a college education or even a primary school education so my hands are tied on making money at other endeavours(unless i have enough money already with which to make more of it).

I know i may sound like i am obsessed with money, but i don't really care much for it(this definitely being a large part of my success in poker), still, it is something we need in order to live, and money can't buy happiness but it sure can buy everything else .

Whenever a hand is shown down, look at it and try to spot things that are out of the ordinary, try to take advantage of every bit of info you can garner.

How do you keep stocked up with tea while grinding? Cup before and after? Get someone else to make it? Sit out?

Re: The well, oldjude.

just to keep the thread going:

what's the biggest regret of your life so far?

what was your first "i'm profitable at poker" purchase? (way before buying a house. i mean the first time you withdrew money from online and made a purchase)

what's your regular go-to meal for dinner?

do you lurk any threads on here that most wouldn't know? like OOT or maybe the smoking hot girls from facebook thread.

describe nick rainey in one word

what websites do you have bookmarked?

hypothetical thoughts on abortion and prenup?

Re: The well, oldjude.

What are your hobbies besides poker?

What are the details of your new house--where is it, do you live with anyone, how would you describe it? Pics when you get settled wold be cool.

How do estimate your edge is in MTTs right now?

How do you feel your life would be different if you went to conventional schooling like most people? If you never found poker and had to pursue a different career what would it be?

How long have you been playing poker seriously? On a scale of 1-10 how much do you enjoy playing? How do you see yourself in 10 years?

Sorry for so many cliché questions or if you answered them already. Congrats on the house purchase and keep crushing.

Tighten up your ranges, don't get it in too light pre. But the only line that matters is the green.

can't think of one.

what was your first "i'm profitable at poker" purchase? (way before buying a house. i mean the first time you withdrew money from online and made a purchase)

I once paid for driving lessons and thought 'wow, paying for real things with poker winnings? i might actually be a profitable player'(i wasn't).

what's your regular go-to meal for dinner?

Chinese.

do you lurk any threads on here that most wouldn't know? like OOT or maybe the smoking hot girls from facebook thread.

I call into lots of other forums now and then, nvg, bbv, oot etc.

describe nick rainey in one word

I don't know who this is.

what websites do you have bookmarked?

Ptr, leggo, amazon, ebay, pokertube..

hypothetical thoughts on abortion and prenup?

I don't get my panties in a twist over these matters, but i am quite liberal.

I don't play much sport or anything, i suppose video games and strategy games. Hanging out with friends.

Immaculate 2 bedroom Country cottage on an acre of fine manicured garden. But it looks like the deal might not go through with this one .

How do estimate your edge is in MTTs right now?

TBH i think i am very good at adjusting to MTTs, i would say i am as good as or better than your average mtt reg.

How do you feel your life would be different if you went to conventional schooling like most people? If you never found poker and had to pursue a different career what would it be?

I am sure there would be many pros and cons but i attribute my home-schooling background to my open-mindedness and unique way of thinking. On the other hand i might have better social skills and a wider net-work of friends as a kid had i gone to school, and of course my options for pursuing a conventional career would be more open. I don't think my lack of formal education has hindered my intelligence in any way.

How long have you been playing poker seriously? On a scale of 1-10 how much do you enjoy playing? How do you see yourself in 10 years?

I have been playing seriously for over three years. On a scale of 1-10 I enjoy playing about 8. I don't know.

Sorry for so many cliché questions or if you answered them already. Congrats on the house purchase and keep crushing.

Thanks.
