Strategy No flatting range

Hi everyone,
on the network i'm grinding on, some of the best regs at 400NL+ have a preflop strategy of zero flatting range whatsoever (except from BB obviously).
They 3bet all positions about 10-14% (except 7-10% MP vs UTG), and still fold 50% to 4bet overall.
I have been wondering if some of you guys had a precise opinion about the pros and cons of this strategy, considering the possible loss of EV if some decently bad fish is still in the blinds f.ex, and also considering the spots where we could value-own ourselves.
Thanks !

It loses a bit of EV to not call anything. It loses a bunch more in a situation with fish, yes.
But it simplifies the game a lot, you don't need to play any single raised pots as caller or multiway pots. Some of the first guys who played like this were actually bots; they didn't call anything exactly for that reason, 3bet and 4bet pots are much easier to play well than single raised pots.

Ok thanks, so do you think a kind of good mix would be to avoid having a flatting range in MP/CO (because of the squeeze incentive) even when fish sits behind, and having a flatting range only on the BTN ?
My question also mostly concerns having too much of a "narrow/easy to identify/quite caped" range when flatting a "standard" range MP/CO vs EP reg open (mostly broadways suited/few high pocket pairs), hence the idea of playing only 3bet or fold from these positions.

Yeah that's a good idea. No flats in MP is gonna be fine, whereas BU you get some clear max-ev flat spots.
One factor is also the open size. Vs a minraise you can flat significantly more than a vs 3bb open.
