BB I have at 31/10 but at least looking to pick up pots postflop. UTG I only have a few hands on but so far is 44/0. I'm wondering if a check behind on the flop could ever be warranted here to extract more on later streets?

Full Tilt Poker, $0.25/$0.50 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 4 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter

UTG: $37.40
Hero (BTN): $64.30
SB: $67.45
BB: $48.35

Pre-Flop: A Q dealt to Hero (BTN)
UTG calls $0.50, Hero raises to $2.25, SB folds, BB calls $1.75, UTG calls $1.75

Flop: ($7) 3 3 Q (3 Players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero?

I bet $5 here. Vs two loose guys you're going to get plenty of peels from pocket pairs, flush draws and worse queens on this board imo.

As usual, this really depends on the flow of the game. If you've been pounding this table mercilessly or to some appreciable frequency, then bet. If you have checked a few times and given up, check again. If you've noticed someone overplaying FLOPS of these two, bet. In general, bet, but this can't exist in a vacuum. Frankly, checking behind to get value on a later street is not that bad on this board.

Heh, ya I was thinking that more and more. Pretty standard. I think it was just a matter of having weird thoughts go through my mind, and a read that I was in fact going to get no callers in this spot with a c-bet. But I spose a NSD pot won isn't the end of the world!

Ah, you're tickling my brain with the Ac thought! That was somehow the "kicker" that got me thinking combined with the fact I had given up maybe once or twice before, and was otherwise in pretty TAG'ish mode...

for sure. if you play a bunch of hands and then go review them in holdem manager, i guaruntee you'll find most of your big money lost comes from overplaying TPTK hands (slowplaying them usually) and overplaying weak pair hands when you "have reads" that vill is bluffing or something along those lines. cutting back on those leaks = $$$

Well, yeah, the Ac acts as a blocker and cuts down, to some appreciable degree, the range of flush draws your opponents have. I don't really think this is a spot where you have to worry about going broke, necessarily, because you have position and the opponents you are up against are very weak. So, I really don't mind a check back here. I'm not saying you should make it your default play, but, look, you have to use your situational thinking that goes beyond a vaccuum. If you can justify a check back in certain spots every so often, then you stand to profit if you play your hand correctly on the turn and river.
