Ok it's pretty quiet in here before the weekend rush, wanted to bring something up quick. I saw Wichita's (I think) post in numbers thread following wesrwood incident where he said he was surprised by some large numbers getting tossed around in here, and I had been thinking the same.

Specifically I noticed jaba and aces posting offers like the one above, "will book 3k in action for swaps." I'm probably the laziest person here when it comes to dedicating energy to thread rules/risk-mgmt, etc., but even I thought this was notable enough that it deserved mentioning.

I took that offer earlier this week, and Post Oak just did as well, so that's just a really quick 12k in action. A couple of those per week along with other action clearly adds up quickly, which aces himself astutely pointed out to everyone a few weeks ago in numbers thread when he ran terribly and had a -20k week or something.

These two guys I mentioned are great thread members, but they joined while I was on a break so I don't know their respective situations, other than aces being a former thread member who got in over his head a bit at one point, but of course made it right over time (I was personally owed/paid). Are there vouches/escrows on file for jaba or aces?

I've interacted with both a bit and consider them very reliable and legitimate, and everyone who reads this will know it's not any sort of attack or accusation. I'm just interested in taking these offers on occasion and wanted to ask if there's any collateral there. And I'd like to suggest that if anyone (myself included) wants to consistently make these large, open swap offers, they should give everyone the courtesy of a rough current balance (net of unpaid/uncollected balances in numbers thread from previous week, plus estimate of current week betting thread balance).

Also editing in this quick reminder that the vast majority of people who end up having payment issues are not vicious scammers, just guys who risk a little too much and run bad. And most of the time they'll have debt with a local book or someone else as well that we couldn't have known about, so the least we can do is be transparent with our numbers here.

Thanks guys, don't wanna clog anything up here, but I think I'm doing us all a favor with the suggestion for all us non-Post Oak folk to include a current balance with any large swap offers or much larger than normal bet sizes. This would have been helpful in the recent situation, which I'm not up to speed on but hope it's nothing too serious. GL all.

I think we all have a rough idea of what we are comfortable with regarding bet sizes with people. At least those of us who have been here a long time. It might not be a bad idea to have some type of a formal max betting tiered system. IE over a certain amount then we need to escrow. And that could vary based on our history, average bet size, etc.

I have 2.5k in escrow still with Anger/Zeta. I've been here since February. I paid out 8k this week alone as I probably had my worst football weekend ever. I don't think anyone's ever had a payment problem w/ me, if they have lmk. I'm not sharp, I get my picks from twitter.
