$1/2
Good Friday night game with lots of drinking and chatter.

V1 ($400)- New poker player. 30 y/o white guy. He was still learning how the blinds worked. Played a couple of WTF hands.
In one hand, he had A7o in the BB and called a pre-flop raise from a winning reg. He then called a flop bet on T62r board. He CALLED a $120 all-in bet on the turn with no pair and no draw.
In another hand, he bluff-shoved unsuccessfully with complete air.
He won a bomb pot and a few all-ins with 2 pair hands to keep his stack up.

Hero ($225) - Villain probably has little perception of different player types.

The hand:
Button straddle
V1 limps from SB
V2 limps from MP
Hero raises to $25 with K♣️K♠️
Both Vs call.

Flop ($70)
T♠️9♠️2♦️
V1 checks
V2 checks
Hero bets $50
V1 calls
V2 folds

Turn ($120)
A♣️
Checks around

River ($120)
3♦️
V1 shoves. $150 for hero to call.

Hero?

Given villain description I don't see how this is anything other than a crying call.

Against described V I am making flop much larger, like $90 and just jamming all turns.

1. Whats the strudle at 1/2? 5 bucks? 25 seems a bit steep.
2. If you bet 50 into 70 and one V called the pot is 170 not 120.
3. Hand is played fine. Call AP.

1. $5 straddle, so I just try to treat those hands like it's 2/5 with less deep stacks. With the two limps and straddle, there's $15 in the pot. Some $1/2 players care about the absolute size of the bet, so $25 would be steep. It was fine for this table though.
2. Yup. I guess that makes the call even easier.

Im folding. I think he has an ace or better more than 2/3 time.

Usually donk off once as a new player then next time they have it. But i think it is marginal call or fold. The nice thing about calling is you are giving someone chips you have a great chance of getting them back from if he has it this time.

You've seen V go deep with nothing but a bad A. I think you're beat. With bad players in general, both river shoves and donks are usually the goods. This is a combo donk river shove. I would think there will be lots of other situations where this V will spew, so I wouldn't risk my whole stack now. I would remind myself that I make more money betting than calling.
That said, I don't think a call is terrible bc we've seen the same move as a bluff and the chips will still be in play if it is not a bluff.

You've seen him shove 3 times, twice with 2 pair and once with an ace. Unless I had a read that the villain is just screwing around, this is a fold.

I'd bet the turn considering how much he floats. There are a MOUNTAIN of gutshots he has on both ends. Of the FDs he has about 50% of all the draws out there.

As for the river....... you really pigeon holed yourself with the X OTT. He has to be bluffing quite a lot to call. Of course he could also be shoving a hand like A4o thinking it's the nuts trying to make you think he is bluffing.

Another note on his bluffs. If his bluff was a small amount like he only had $40 into a $300 pot that is very different than $150 into $120.

Usually players at 1/2 bluff small amounts OTR not $150.

I would lean on a fold. He has to be bluffing ~35% of his hands that he gets to the river or betting worse

I'd like to see the math on how you came up with that number.

I'd rather see the money go in on the turn where he could still make a bad call.

As played, you'd have to tell more about his previous bluff with air, but I am leaning fold.
