I think this is the right thread for me to post this, here it goes:
A few days ago an unrecognized 2p2 name(let's call it NameX from now on) posted in a thread asking for transfer of AUD cash for USD online. I'm down at the Aussie Millions and need to change the AUD before I leave the country so I responded via PM. I proposed an immediate transfer of me with the AUD cash and this guy with the online transfer from a reputable name. He replied in PM that he is a very well-known HSNL regular in disguise, one of the biggest rising stars in 2009. Let's call him 2009Star. He said this is his friend's 2p2 account he's using because he doesnt want to appear to be asking for money on 2p2 given who he is, as in people might think he's begging. He said we should use the rate on XE.com, which I agreed. He asked me what amount I want to do and I said around $10K.
He wanted the $10K in casino chips when we meet and he'll then go home use XE.com determine the amount and transfer to me. I had a problem with that because I stressed that in a live-swap it should be live, this is not a case of he's in Country X and I'm in Country Y. Also, since he's messaging me under Name X on 2p2 and apparently doesnt have his own 2p2 handle, I said that it's important he only sends me the money online from the name account of 2009Star, the person he claims to be. I dont want transfer from Anonymous999 on Stars because that kinda name could belong to a scammer with Stars giving me trouble later. He does not agree or disagree to that, but responds that 1) he has loads of money and is super rich(strange thing for him to say since I know the person he claims to be and dont need to be reminded of that), 2) his reputation is far more important than $10K, and 3) he'll meet me in person and since I know what this 2009Star looks like, I should have no problems.
However I have since discovered that the Name X he is messaging me from on 2p2 actually has Stars and FT accounts of the same name(Name X) and plays much lower. Also, this 2009Star real person has been sighted at the casino playing much lower these days, despite on PTR making almost $2million in 2009. He's given me his MSN but that can be faked by anyone really.
Should I go ahead with the transfer in person? My problems with him is manyfold:
1) if he wants to do a transfer why cant he just use his own name? if he has no 2p2 handle and is posting from his friend's 2p2 account to me, why not make a handle? It doesnt have to be his real name. He is using the 2p2 name of a friend who also plays under the same 2p2 handle on Stars on Full Tilt, that seems suspicious to me.
2) I cant see why if he wants my $10K when we meet in person, that he can't just live-transfer to my Stars ID in front of my eyes using his very famous Stars or Full Tilt account? He wants to take that $10K in casino chips home and then do the transfer when he knows that I am leaving the country in a few days and its really unnecessary for there to be a delay. My credibility is not in question here since I will show him the cash or casino chips when we meet but I just cant give someone $10K without getting my $10K online right there.
3) He doesnt want to agree to the equivalent in USD before I hand over my 10K.. XE.com is fine but shouldnt we determine the amount I'll be getting in USD before I hand over the $10K in AUD?
4) Strangely he's been sighted by others to be playing lower on cash tables at the Aussie Millions which creates suspicion on my part. Someone even said that there's a lookalike of this 2009Star...
Am I just worrying too much and should I just trust his claimed name and do it after confirming it's him when we meet? I doubt he's busto because he won a ****load in 2009 and then stopped playing pretty much. But all I'm asking for = I give him $10K in chips and he does the transfer live in front of me but for some reason he's unwilling to do that, instead trying to use his "reputation" to delay it to a time later at his own choosing using whatever name online that doesnt have to be his famous Stars/FT names for an exchanged USD amount that isnt determined before I hand over the $10K. I just find that very odd.
