How to handle monotone flop raise with top pair and flush blocker

if we know there are a lot of passive callers pre we should make it bigger, 50/60.

we get to the flop with a ton of people, our range is strong. Iím ok with bet/call and calling turn with slightly stronger hands (AxKd) but I think I like check/call on flop and turn better with our more middling hands.

Re: How to handle monotone flop raise with top pair and flush blocker

Thank you - v helpful. In these types of games, it's not uncommon to have 3+ limpers on some hands. So far, IP i have been raising 3.0x and adding 1 bet for each limper - if I should raise my bet size should i do it for my entire range? Ie. $2/$5 game and I am at CO and there are 3 limpers, i should raise JTss to $30+? If most of these limpers are limp/calling (which is the case), is it still correct to size up my raise size with my entire raise range? Or should my raise range w/ 3 limpers tighten dramatically, even from CO?

Assuming theyre loose, lots of splashy loose limpers calling big bets pre out of position is what you want. Id say stick with a solid value range and raise big pre, especially in position. Id keep upping my raise amount until start folding. Then youll know the tipping point...I bet youll find they call bigger raises than youd think

Re: How to handle monotone flop raise with top pair and flush blocker

I think I like a smaller bet on the flop, ~1/3 pot. The reason being a callerís continue range will generally have more equity against us than on a non monotone flop (any diamond has great equity vs your top pair here - disregarding the jack for now). You will also never get a fold when the opps have a high diamond, and you are also drawing extremely slim against a flush or better top pair. You will only fold out hands with little to no equity against you. Not to mention what do you do vs a check raise when you use such a large size. It is awkward to act on early streets like you have a great hand when you have more of a middling/good hand, puts you in awkward spots later. Here I think you probably call the turn shove with Jd, can fold out Ax without a diamond and lower Axdiamonds. Those are my thoughts.

Re: How to handle monotone flop raise with top pair and flush blocker

We kind of butchered this hand preflop, I'd be OK even with check/fold on the flop, no sense snowballing a mistake. Flop bet is way too large if we're going to bet this weak. Getting check-raised on a 3/4ths pot bet on a 4-way flop with a field of loose-passive players, AJ is a piece of garbage here. "Flush blocker" is basically meaningless 4-way.

Re: How to handle monotone flop raise with top pair and flush blocker

Bet on the flop is huge, you shouldn't be betting that big with such a mediocre hand, remember you are in a multiway pot and any 2 diamond combo makes a FLUSH. I'm probably honestly either checking back or betting very small. On the flop I would already be hating my life and maybe sigh calling. On the turn it's the easiest fold of my life with paired board 3 diamonds and a multiway pot with someone getting hyper aggresive.
You're only pot commited if you win 25%+ of the time, I don't see that happening, even if a diamond comes you are probably beat by a higher flush and paired board means it could be a boat too, also if you're facing a lower flush you have 2 less outs to hit your own flush which makes it like 15% likely (and still you can get beaten by a higher one!!) so I'm going to guesstimate you win this like 5%? percent of the time. Even if he's bluffing with Kh he is going to beat you a decent amount of times
