Playing a friendly local home game. .10/.25 blinds... Seven-handed. I have an average stack.
I start the hand in middle position with :8s :9c. After one limp I make it .75 to go. Two callers.
So the pot is about $2.25
Flop 5
6
7
. I flop the nut straight. Poker is too easy.
BB bets $1. Guy to my calls. I raise to $3.50
BB folds. I have no clue of the guy to my right; I'm new to this game, and the guy next to me arrived late and this might be his fifth hand. No sense of his style or tendencies. He thinks for a while, then calls.
Pot = $9.25
Turn 8
Horrible card for me. The flush gets there. A higher straight gets there. Still, I still think I'm likely ahead.
Villain bets $1. So weird I don't know what to make of it, other than to assume he wants a call, or maybe to get me to raise? He can't be expecting a fold. With no clue what to make of this guy and a lot of ugliness on the board, I call.
Pot = $11.25
River: 9
So now my entire hand is counterfeit. At best, if it goes to showdown, we chop. At worse, he could have a higher straight or a flush.
BB bets $5
I think for a while. What would you do?
... and did I screw this up long before it got to this point?
