Mizzi's account is also playing quite a bit PLO on FTP lately in games that are plagued by multiaccounting and cheating..

I noticed a bunch of similiarities in their posts "defending themselves";

- Neither person directly declares their innocense, its weird to me that in so large text neither player directly says; "All these allegations are false" or something similar
- They both use the fact that they are too good to cheat in such a poor manner. "If I would have cheated it would not have been in such a obvious manner".
- Both of them decline the chance to clear their name by being 100% transparent, (Darren Woods was offered to send full hand history for analysis with 3rd party and turned it down. Joshua was offered a deal from WCG to clear his name)
- They both appeal to emotion that they are being prosecuted and analogies to witch-hunting

I didnt spend too much time to analyze, but my impression was that they came off very similiar so thought Id share.
Fun post. Also note his oh so sincere apology for the car thing.

OP sorry your roommate, friends, and yourself got scammed but it must be nice for them to still be able to play online in the US.

I spend maybe thirty seconds a day, five days a week, reading an email from Bryan Garner at LawProse.org. I heartily recommend it.

1.) What if the cheating account had withdrawn most of the cash and didn't have $35k in it. Would stars refund to Doug all/most of his lost cash? I doubt it.

2.) As for the people saying it was dumb for the cheating account to play so obviously, wasn't this necessary since Doug was outside the US only for a short window of time playing on Stars, so the hacking account needed to fleece Doug immediately, once Josh gave the go-ahead? The cheaters couldn't afford to take Doug's money slowly, they had to take advantage of one of the few windows they had to play him or Josh's risky hack would have been wasted. Therefore these cheaters could still know loads about poker.

He probably tried to copy this link from WCGRider's post
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29...ayers-1231581/

that didn't work and resulted in this version
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29...ayers-1231581/

I can't be sure, but it's a common mistake.

Do you have any further information as to how he managed to be able to view your holecards?

Is it something that he needs to personally install on your machine? Could it be installed by clicking an link? etc...

I think its fairly important that we find out the method involved and how it could possibly be detected on a PC (Im assuming your AV didnt pick anything up?) because next time they might not make it so blatent.

I defy anyone to say anything untoward in regard to John Tabatabai

He is probably the most honourable poker player I ever met

Find it ridiculous that his name would be mentioned in such a context

only scan read this, but isnt kilowatt=sirwatts=mike watts?

some big names ITT, seems like a lot of ill gotten trust, naivety and just general suspicion lapses to me. The josh guy sounds like a wrong un, send him over to my home game and we'll sort it.
Jungle, IMO, is just badly caught up with wrong people/wrong time, and i actually believe that he has no ill intent.
WCG, sorry to hear of it regardless of what the true source is, and super glad that stars restored the faith, impressive.

Free dinner @ my restaurant for whoever finds the truth/josh

Don't Trust Anyone, except Liv Boeree/Vicky Coren/Tatiana Barausova

To be protected againt these attacks you have to encrypt your hard drive with a software like TrueCrypt (http://www.truecrypt.org).
The hard drive will be ciphered, and a password will be required to decrypt it, and then boot your operating system.

If your hard drive is not encrypted, you can access to the operating system with a boot cd very quickly (http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolso...r/kon-boot.htm).

fwiw, I use (and was using) truecrypt. I think it is likely my computer was on or not locked though, which of course was my mistake.

Personnaly to minimize the risk to be infected, I will recommanded :

- enable a bios password

- encrypt your hard drive with TrueCrypt

- install an antivirus

- enable the "sandbox" feature in the AV (it's a mechanism used by AV to
test unverified programs)

- apply Windows update (some vulnerabilites allow an attacker to access
your computer remotely)

- sometimes you can check "startup programs" by clicking on the "Start"
button on Windows, then "Execute" and type "msconfig" and go to the
"startup" tab

- lock your system when you leave, "Windows logo key+L"

- if you are using Windows 7, enable the UAC (User Account Control) at the
highest level (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975787).
It will make life hard for a trojan / keylogger to be installed and performs
admin tasks (like be installed as a service, dump your windows password,
....) even if your account is in the Administrators group

Just read every word of this. A few thoughts:

@ OP: Glad you got the $'s back. It's good the way you kept it all clean and factual. I like your style bro (even if I did diss you in other thread for calling Willhasha crap at poker, still don't see the need for that kind of thing, but it's hardly a crime..)

Joshua Tyler huh? Never heard of him. Will remember the name though. He did himself no favors with that aggro post. Made him look even more guilty.

Jungle needs to chill.

In general many poker players are too quick to tell the World about their winnings etc. Why? Why are so many guys so anxious to have the World knowing who they are? Does anyone need to know? Does the wife/gf even need to know the full extent of the ups and downs? I know mine doesn't and I say that in a non-deceitful way. Keep things clean with who knows what and be organised.
