BTN is a 20-something unknown player. These spots come up a lot and this should be pretty standard. Just making sure lately I can plug leaks if there are any in these situations.

I'm not playing in my home city. Should I just be betting turn with my whole range or do we not need to be balanced in a random 5/T game where I'll never see these guys again?

Hero ($2500) raises JTss to $40 UTG
Folds to BTN ($800) who calls, rest fold

Flop ($95) J42ddc
Hero bets $50, BTN calls

Turn ($195) As
Hero checks, BTN bets $100, hero calls

River ($395) 8d
Hero checks, BTN bets $210, Hero?

We should still aim for balance, not for long-term reasons but to make sure we're not getting exploited in the moment.

Check/call on the turn is fine. When the flush gets there on the river, I think it's a simple check/fold.

We balance our play on the turn by also x/calling our weaker AdXd hands and x/jamming river.

You should make the highest EV play always. It's just about never correct to make a -EV play in the moment. Nothing, like saying balance, can change that.

Flop check usually, but bet is ok.
Turn standard
River standard fold, don't think you have many worse hands there

That would be terribly loose and would lose you lots of money.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what's out there exactly, I'd say old videos from PokerVIP? My most recent videos were on IveyLeague and PokerMarket, but even those are a bit dated now. I only work with my team and a few private students in the last ~18 months.
