5/10/20, $2500 eff

Villain is middle aged Euro pro, aggressive pre and seems to 3b both a merged/polarized range pre vs a LP opens.

Hero with Q9 in HJ
Folds to Hero, open to 60
Villain OTB raise to 175
Hero calls

Flop (365): 932
Check, V bet 310, hero calls

Turn (985): 7
Check, V bet 600, hero jam 1950

Reasonable to jam turn here? Ranging villain on 99+, suited broadways w/FD, and A2-A6s. I have about 38% equity against that range and I need 40%, so it’s a slightly -EV jam assuming I have zero FE here. Figure he’s likely calling off most of his range...it’s likely a tough decision on the river if I miss and he jams.

I think we can fold pre with this hand being near the bottom of our opening range.

As played, why would't we just x/call the turn. I doubt you're getting overpairs to fold so I'm not sure what raising accomplishes.

Agree with the fold pre but i guess you could argue it depends how out of line this guy is pre/post. I don't think V is folding much when he sizes his flop and turn barrel this way though.

Unless hes massively over 3betting here I like a fold pre. Youll have many better hands to continue with.

Why not just check call turn? Are you jamming for value or as a bluff? If its value, its ridiculously thin and your hand is too good to turn into a bluff.

Pre snap fold.

Ap turn seems like a call, dont have much FE and he can blast off on a lot of rivers as a bluff/thin value as a mistake vs your hand. Once you jam he has a super ez decision and can play pretty easily/straightforward with no mistakes

This. Q9 doesn't play well enough post flop to play oop to a 3bet pf. Any decent reg will own us here over time.

I'd fold preflop since Q9s is fairly weak to a 3-bet. As a standard I'd call on the turn. If you have reason to believe that he will give up on a lot of rivers when he misses and is barreling too much then check/raise all-in on turn is better.

Has anyone suggested folding preflop yet? Cause that's what we should do ;-)

But as played, I agree a check call is in order, and on the river, can be turned into a bluff catcher if you still think he's out of line

Clearly the correct choice is to 4bet pre. Calling is bad, folding is a losing play(and we aren't losers), clearly the only choice is 4betting.
