What is this?

A March Madness Squares Pool is a completely random, neutral EV sweat for every game of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. That's 63 independent sweats for the price of one, so yeah it's pretty much the greatest thing ever. See previous pools to get a feel:

Still confused? No worries, just ship your escrow and enjoy the ride. You'll catch on after the first couple games and I'll be posting the winners of each game as we go.

I'd highly recommend sending early to avoid any transfer limits we'll hit as we get closer to the tourney.

We're not reserving squares, it's first-come, first-served.

Like last year, we may run a second pool if this one fills up early.

The Fine Print:

• Payouts are based on a game's final score. (not end of regulation)
• There are no payouts for the "First Four" play-in games.
• When two teams match up in the tournament with the same seed, we'll use the NCAA Selection Committee's ranking of all 68 teams to determine which team is on the favorite line and which is the underdog. I'll post this list in the thread once it's published. edit: here's the published list from Selection Sunday.
• This pool is mostly first come, first served, meaning we're closed when 100 squares are paid for. However non-hsnl regs or guys who are high maintenance may get bumped from the pool.
• To save time I'm going to pass on any 'label each of my squares different' requests this year, and ask everyone with shared action to manage your own individual squares totals and payouts. Since both the grid and numbers lines are randomized, I'd suggest that "YourName 1" is your top-left most square, and so on.
• Check your squares and post or PM if you spot any errors on the grid or payout tables in the OP. Payouts will start 48 hours after tournament ends to give everyone a chance to catch my mistakes. Payouts will ship in the same order as when your escrow was received: first in, first out. This usually takes 2-3 weeks to work through because of transfer limits. If you bink a square PM me how you'd like to be paid out, and send any info I'll need. If requesting Stars, I can probably accommodate via the xfer thread. I can also send out via PayPal, but will limit it to 3 xfers per week to avoid being flagged again. We travel a ton for games over the tournament so I may be out of touch but I'll eventually get caught up. Hit me up if you're going to San Antonio for F4 -- we got another killer rental house this year.

Few notes:

• The graphic in the OP is not currently updating because 2+2 is caching graphics now, and not directly linking to the ones on my server. We'll get this figured out soon, so don't fret if you don't see your name in the "PAID" section yet.
  
• I'm not reserving squares because of the additional bookkeeping -- they're first come first served.
  
• I opened this pool a week earlier this year because we're traveling a bunch before the tournament and I'd like to try and get both squares pools filled out early. We always struggle to fill the last 30 squares of the 2nd pool -- would like to avoid that sweat if possible.

just to clarify, your intent is to run 2 pools with identical size buyins, right? I'll be in but am deciding how many squares bc I have some people who want in on my action so knowing there is a second pool coming would help me sign up ASAP for what I have confirmed.

Yes, two identical pools at $300/square. (see OP for "2nd Chance" pools from prior years)

The second pool gets harder to fill every year. If it doesn't fill, we'll keep the first fifty escrows placed, refund the rest, double the number of everyone's squares and halve the payouts.
