MP is a decent reg, perceives hero to be on the aggro side. no real relevant reads up to this hand. fwiw i think he's opening A2s/A4s from MP

UTG (100BB)
MP (200BB)
CO (10BB)
BTN (140BB)
SB (100BB)
Hero (BB) (145.5BB)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 55
UTG folds, MP raises 3BB, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls 2BB

Flop: (6.5BB) 542 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets 3.5BB, Hero raises to 14.5BB, MP calls

Turn: (35.5BB) 4 (2 players)
Hero bets 26BB , MP calls

River: (93.5BB) 2 (2 players)
Hero bets XX (99BB remaining)

do we psb shove for max value/max fe when we're bluffing, or smaller so we can comfortably include straights, get more crying calls vs villains overpair heavy range? to those in the shoving camp, what's the bottom of your value shoving range? how would your strategy change if villain opened from lp? thoughts on turn sizing?

thanks.

Unless he is overfolding, he should be calling with a decent amount of overpairs. If he is overfolding, you can split your value and bluff sizing. 1/2 pot for value and shove for bluffs. You don't max value from A3s with this strat so you have to be confident that he's going to call with enough additional overpairs.
My value shoving range is 55,44,22,54s,A3s.
BTN should have more straights and full houses and I'm not sure how much that changes things. Id have to think about it some more.
I think your turn sizing is fine. Maybe could go a little bigger to get value from AdXd?

So you are saying bluff shove all in but value bet 1/2 pot? This seems like a pretty bad practice against a decent reg as they will eventually pick up on the sizing tell.

Yeah all lines designed to exploit can be counter exploited.

I'd prefer to exploit via betting frequency instead of sizing since it is less noticeable, but different strokes for different folks I guess.

Pot turn, in hopes of getting it all-in on river. As played you'd have to overbet the pot by nearly 10BB on river to make that happen.

Shove, you don't want to give 2x or a straight the opportunity to check back.

A3s and 63s are the only hands you are probably getting rid of by shoving instead of 1/2 bet. 4x and 2x probably aren't going anywhere. Overpairs probably aren't going to call 1/2 bet anyway. Some might, but the ones that do are probably calling an all-in.
