Do you seriously believe that social pressure could turn somebody who racked up 15 (fifteen) infractions over 4 years, into a decent poster?

personal duels are a 2-way street, but i agree with the bolded- this is potentially a character flaw of mine. i am mostly content to let bygones be bygones once the dust settles- clearly i've berated jmakin and neil s numerous times for their actions in babs' thread, but i leave it within the thread.

jmakin posts in politics regularly and we never have any personal spats, not only because we agree about most topics but because i recognize that it's unbecoming and unnecessary to bring drama from babs' thread (which is one big ****show, by design) into anything over in the politics forum. 27o doesnt seem to grasp this concept and takes any opportunity he can to attack me- and i'm fine with that, but once you start throwing around threats of containment and banning while doing it, well then we're gonna have a problem and my hand is going to be forced. so here we are.

Being a member of the Libertarian cabal, I suppose I have rather more faith than most in the human condition. So, yes.

he was bitching about a 3rd world supplier asking for a $0.02/unit price increase that totalled about $200! two weeks after babs lobbed an anti-semitic slur at him, no less! i completely stopped short of bringing up his jewishness (note: did not even imply anything of that sort) because i think that's a super low blow and totally uncalled for, but i think it's pretty reasonable to needle him about being stingy and disaffected

The Beast is a special case among humans. I think those in the appreciation thread understand or believe that.

So his trolling and attacks are taken in the spirit of fun and entertainment.

the issue here isnt really about whether i'm a good or bad poster, it's about whether or not 27o is out of line with his behavior

Stop using trolling incorrectly. Trolling is saying **** to intentionally piss someone off just because it amuses you. Being an argumentative dick isn't trolling.

I think 27 often takes things a little too personally for a mod and overreacts a bit at times. I think that probably played a factor here.

However, I think it's also completely justified by the number of people who get annoyed by your posting and have requested containment or banning.

Idgaf and find it easy to ignore you or anyone else posting badly in a thread, but I do agree that you often make threads (mma, steak, Babs, etc) bad when you get into a back and forth with someone for the reasons I outlined in the post someone quoted above. You just get too emotional and worked up and can't let anything go. And while it's usually a two-way street with fault on both sides, more often than not it's you that starts the derail/flame war/etc.

So, while I don't think your containment is necessary, I do think it's justifiable. You were essentially contained for the same reason mlylt was contained.

My insults are usually at least somewhat thoughtful, clever, amusing, or otherwise sophisticated. They are therefore entertaining, you prick.
