Usually French people celebrate Christmas right about the same time as the new year. They celebrate the new year in July, right before France's Independendance day that occurs on July 14th.
The idea of Christmas only came along after people from the Parisian Banlieue started playing American Christmas Carroll songs on their Ghetto blasters during the 1968 movement.
