Mm was being ****ing stupid in omg , over and over the same ****. It didn't matter it was giz .he was told to stop because he basically killed every convo that we had going.

He was banned for being overly stupid , yes omg is the most "lax" thread on the site but its not meant to be a total bitch out fest over and over AND OVER. There is a line and it took about a page worth of back and forth before that line was drawn.

I just want to play by the same rules as everyone else man. I don't feel that is too much to ask. If I am infracted and banned than everyone else should be infracted or banned for the same reasons. Right? Oh no, Beal doesn't like me because I insulted his girlfriend, so I play by different rules.

I am a lightning rod. I have been flamed and trolled harder than most, but my PM box and thread are also filled with countless messages from thankful guys that have been helped.

I personally think that my thread has probably helped more 4Lers that virtually any other thread. I am of course both biased and very egomaniacal though.

Simply put he killed the omg thread at the time when told to stop he didn't. Ryan pretty much stated it. He bothered everyone who posted in it. That's derailing, that's why he got ban.
The point about the thread is that its a different kind of thread and can't be compared accurately esp the way 4L treats certain threads.
Either accept this answer or don't but that's the answer. With that I got no more for ya.

grammar issues aside (maybe i was too harsh), this response doesn't really make sense. is there any exaggeration in stating that MM "bothered" "everyone" who posted in omg? keep in mind, that thing is on about its 60 iteration. there's so much static, noise and bs in there that i saw from spending 2 minutes in it.

huh? others do get infracted and banned for the same reasons they're just not announced. you didnt just insult his "girlfriend" you insulted lots of people and when other people called you on it you had to defend yourself because you always think your opinion to be 100% true.

No regs aren't immune, but MM got butthurt about something and went to omgomgomg to rant about it with total disregard for the other posters in there. IIRC he went in there and ATC was in there too who he had a problem with. Well, one is a "regular" poster in there and one is not, they obviously couldn't both be posting in the same thread w/o it turning into a total cluster****. So in this instance obv the "reg" gets deference and MM was asked, ambiguous as it may have been to leave [the ambiguity isn't really the issue here because MM knew he was being asked to leave and if he says otherwise he's being purposefully obtuse]. He didn't and that's what caused his temp ban.

Yes grammar matters; but the reason why this is such a common error is because nobody would ever confuse the meaning of their/there/they're in speech.

I have neer once insulted somebody that did not insult me first. That is called defending yourself. I think they need to go after the actual initiators and not those that defend themselves from the trolls. If you want to show me an example of me initiating an insult, then please do.

i will grant you and killa this, but tell my why that's different in omg than anywhere else? dude got trolled hard in the thread he started (and i know this because i stuck up for him on at least one occasion where the trolling party had nothing to say in response to me so let it drop).

there are myriad examples of trolling in threads all the time. i guess the problem i have is that MM has at least made a prima facie case that he's been treated inequitably. if i can be granted that point, this thread can be shut down. if i can't be, then i'd like to see where the problem was, because i sure have personally seen a bunch of stuff that suggested he was not causing the problem.

look, i understand that mods are human, have real lives and are prone to inconsistency, but i also think that when they take the time to respond in a thread like this, they can respond with more than "he knows what he did." the only way to breed any sort of consistency is to publicize the standard and apply it equally and fairly across the board.

also, i get that no one at 2+2 "owes" me or anyone an explanation and that it's a privilege not a right to post here. however, the public invitation to join this forum, enjoy its benefits and post should, in fairness, not succumb to capriciousness. if that's what it is, then it's 2+2's right, but let's at least say that is what it is.

I would consider most of my posts in that thread to be "flaming", but I think it actually added quite a bit to that thread. Although I didn't read a lot of it especially the middle 20 or so pages ... seems like common sense iyam.

Are there good/bad posters? Yes, yes there are.

no, is the quality a problem that leads to infractions / bans? huge difference. there are hundreds of bad posters, but not every "bad" post warrants a ban or infraction.
