Why does this mod get to close my thread? Why does this mod get to close my thread?

09-27-2017 , 05:19 PM
What gives huh? Venice10 closed my thread because he doesn't like that I bet 40% pot as a c-bet? Seriously dude?? Am I not allowed to have a discussion about poker on a strategy forum now?

why should i have to convince a mod that my standard play is whatever in order to not have my thread locked up? First of all I'm a winning poker player and there is more than one way to skin a cat am i right? So does it matter if my standard play is different than Venice10's if it's still a winning play as part of my overall strategy? Also in a heads-up pot I don't just automatically put my opponent on a flush draw. I could go on talking about the strategy discussions of the hand and the merits to my plays but the thread was closed and this isn't the forum to talk strategy. And lets say I am delusional and I'm terrible at poker and losing hand over fist. Ok fine. How am I supposed to get better if mods are closing my thread and ending any discussion about the hand?

I feel really disappointed by the way this mod handled this situation. I feel like he was condescending from his first post and just closed my thread because he doesn't like how I play......come on dude.

Venice10 is a curmudgeon and a total hardass. Get used to it if you want to keep posting in his forums.

im fine with that but im not fine with him shutting down my thread simply because he doesn't agree with my play. that's stupid and against the point of this forum i thought. or am i wrong? should venice10 be allowed to shut down my thread simply because he disagrees with the line I took in the hand?????????????

Why don't you ask him?

Sounds like good questions for him. How are we to know?

For those who'd like to see it, here's the thread in question that OP couldn't be bothered to link:

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/1...status-1690239
you need to improve your comprehensive reading abilities.

and again i dont want or need to ask venice10 anything. i know why he closed my thread and it's because he doesn't agree with my strategy. he even said so. what im asking is why are mods allowed to willy nilly close a thread simply because they disagree with the strategy therein?

My reading is fine. I understand everything you said. Are you really asking why a moderator gets to moderate? Really??

It seems to me that you're not actually asking a question at all. You have a complaint which you're choosing to voice with some passive aggressive "questions".

And if you read between the lines, I think it's pretty obvious that venice10 thinks you're trolling. I've noticed that happening with your posts before. Gives one pause.

Edit to add: LOL @ me; I missed that you did indeed include a link in your OP. My apologies.

I feel like a mod is going to close this thread soonish

gregorio?

Bobo is not a mod.

Not serious, don't close the thread, just not yet.

Winner.

OP, you are in fact trolling. Your thread was in fact just locked, not deleted

I think you're misunderstanding what happened. Your thread wasn't deleted, it was just locked.

Personally, I don't understand why the thread was locked/closed. But I am likely lacking understanding of the full history and situation.

Even if the original thread was a trolling thread, some posters added quite a bit of good information in there. I also quite like analysing unusual thought processes and unusual lines, (if cbetting <50% is considered unusual on a drawy flop).

@Rich: I know from experience (from another forum) that arguing with moderators about moral philosophy of what they should do or shouldn't do won't get you any sympathy, or remedy your thread lock problem. Because forum moderators are in essence the judge, jury and executioners. They aren't democratically elected as far as I'm aware, so it doesn't matter what you or we think about how they behave. I'm sure you realise by now that you have to suck it up and deal with it. We get the forums free, so no big deal when considering the bigger picture. There is bigger injustice in the world.

yeah, i think deleting it wasn't right. maybe just a lock or something. idk
09-30-2017 , 01:14 AM
Also, Venice was clearly out of line leaving a flaming bag of dog poop at OP's front door.
09-30-2017 , 01:28 AM
absolutely. who does that? honestly?
