I am not saying this about any Mod in particular, but there are a few who seem to go overboard. I have no interest in naming names.

This seems to occur when they don't like a topic/POV and use their Mod powers to inflict personal harm.

Mods serve an incredibly valuable purpose. Their overriding arch should be to ensure thread continuity. They should gently prod people that are outside the lines back without making themselves be part of the conversation as well.

What should not be tolerated is abusive language directly at community members. Rather shocking that it is even allowed. Mods are the "players at the top" and should serve as shining examples of how to deal with conflict. Instead, it is like the best poker player at the table berating bad players.

Also, the switching of avatars by a Mod is not appropriate. Avatars should be chosen by the community member and not be altered unless it is deemed offensive.

The real question is who mods the mods that mod the mods? That's what you SHOULD be asking.

I am the one that chose that Avatar. Then circled it out for other Avatars that also represent me - Pac-Man Award and Tetris God.

Being an ESA Kingpin is just one of my many life accomplishments that I like to share with fellow community members. I should have that choice.

Mods using abusive language towards their own community members is unacceptable. Well, actually it is acceptable here I suppose.

I was also contained on false charges. IT WAS ACKNOWLEDGED BY THE MOD HE DIDN'T EVEN READ ANYTHING. I WAS JAILED SOLELY BECAUSE OF ONE THREAD SUBJECT.

Still, I followed the rules of containment. Which were modified without any oversight or input from another Mod. Who personally hates the subject of that thread. Who also tolerates abuse of community members by other community members, even while under containment.

Is there any policing of this? Or it is what it is?

golf, what are you talking about? You were contained because you were making very high-volume terrible posts across multiple threads and continued to do so after being asked to let up a bit, not because 27 isn't a fan of emotional support animals.

Regarding the larger question of who mods the mods, that's Mat Sklanksy. In most cases, his approach is to allow mods to run the forums they mod however they see fit. Sometimes he will intervene if there are lots of complaints about an individual mod or how a forum is being modded. Unfortunately that hasn't happened with 27 yet.

Here is El Diablo. Who I think is a Super Mod. Or some people say is the owner of 2+2. Consigliere at a minimum. Even he sees the scorn I was getting was over-the-top but decides whatever, contain me, and sure enough it happens. Larry Legend had no clue what anything was all about nor did I hear from him every again.

El Diablo is not a mod of OOT nor a supermod. He is mainly a troll and his opinion is worthless and holds no more weight than anyone else's who posts in OOT.

Your problem, mate, is that you appear not to be able to just walk away from an arguement.

You clutter up threads with verbose semantics bitchfights and will never, ever just say 'whatever' and ****ing drop it. You don't have to respond to every single post you disagree with because 'someone is WRONG on the internet.

Here is another example of how Mods will tolerate abuse of community members they don't like.

I bumped the Malaysian Missing Airplane thread on the precipice of the private company searching for the downed plane. A thread that is very active again.

I was accused of bumping that thread, I couldn't even believe I am going to write this because it is so bat**** crazy...solely because I am seeking out opportunities to promote my ESA business on airplanes. A missing ****ing plane in Indonesia. And these are the "good" posters.

And by the way, I really didn't give a **** for being contained. Whatever. New territory to adjust.

I was not prepared for abusive language being directed at my from a Mod. For some crazy reason, I thought they were curators and hand-picked for the ability not to take anything personally. Just a few appear to be the type that berates the dealer because they got a bad hand. It makes it very uncomfortable when they should be the ones encouraging people to become active community members and "play more poker and find it an enjoyable experience.:"

When you're the only person complaining about how a forum is being modded, and the complaint involves only how you are being modded, that's a pretty good sign the fault lies with the mod.
