New people join all the time and they may be younger. But, I don't think that matters here. I think this is more a situation of the times changing than people getting older. Something that was seen as fun and harmless by some looks different now.
Not to sidetrack, but the general situation (and not really that one thread) was actually something that kept coming up for me back then. In that era, I was working to organize people to advocate legislatively for our game. Poker Legislation had probably the highest percentage of women posters on 2+2 (that was prior to That's What She Said), and keeping a welcoming environment -- for the thread and advocacy in general -- was important. We moderated PL differently as a result, but it wasn't heavy-handed. The dynamics were simply different because of the people who posted there.
Fast forwarding to now...H&F and PL have never have such content, so it's not something I get to decide (as there's nothing for me to change in those two forums). But, I think it's a potential discussion.
