A number of third-party hosting sites from back then are either gone or are locking photos down until / unless they collect subscription fees. It really has affected this site. It would be great for 2+2 to host photos (and anything else that makes sense), if feasible.

In addition to hiding a blocked poster's posts, don't display his posts when they are quoted by others.

Assuming you are building new forum software, it needs to have the following:

• allow images to be uploaded directly from a device and drag-and-dropped
• auto embed any social media/video links
• endless scroll and live-loading pages so if someone posts while I'm already in a thread it updates
• block users also blocks quotes and replies to that user (should be a regular block option and a SUPER BLOCK option that blocks everything to do with a users presence)
• should be able to block mods in general, because a lot of them are terrible posters, but for sure you should be able to block them in forums they don't mod
• ability to block threads and forums
• link previews auto-generated from OG tags
• embed quotes in posts like discourse does (you can click to expand and see the quoted post). Allow users to include the quote in their post, but DO NOT DISPLAY QUOTES BY DEFAULT. Nothing is worse than a 700 word post being immediately quoted along with a one word comment. I just read that post, don't make me scroll through it again
• obviously it should be responsive and display on mobile devices without 3rd party app like Tapatalk
• unobtrusive like or heart button that doesn't take up much space but allows users to show they agree with a post
  
• auto format stuff. Like this list should work without me having to add tags. Hashes and/or 4 spaces should auto-format into code block
• give Mike Haven a raise

I don't think 27o's current age matters. Most threads in 2+2 don't belong to OP once posted (a notable example of the opposite is the training logs in H&F), so it's a community thread now. IMO it should be judged based on its merits.

Putting aside the merits of the thread, it should maybe be locked because it's ancient in terms of its start date, was dead for over a decade, and the links don't work. But, that's up to the mods there.

Should 2+2 allow such threads (which seems to be your actual question)? I think that could be a thread all its own.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to pick on 27o specifically. I think he's great. I just feel like most of us are a bit older now, 2p2 as a whole is a lot more civilized and a lot less "wild west" and some things are relics of a past that we can look back on with affection and nostalgia.

And some things are better left to crumble to dust. I don't think that thread reflects well upon any of us.

Endless loading, freezing, lag can still be an issue, easy to lose your place, the pride one feels upon flipping a page, being able to taunt people who don’t have setting set to 100 PPP, the general feeling of relief knowing the dumb-ass post you made earlier will eventually be rolled to an old page, liking the fact that this forum has a different feel and is geared more towards long-term discussion than instant communication, the relief one feels when a new page starts and you no longer have to see that gif that annoys the **** out of you every time you click the page, and of course, posterity.

It remembers where you are, shows you when you last visited, and the timestamp of the posts show up on the scroll bar so you always know exactly where you are. Ever try finding a post in a thread on 2p2? You click on a random page number, see the date, guess how many pages away the date you're looking for is, click another random page number, and so on, and eventually you get there. Instead you could just scroll to where you want to be. ahahahahahahahahahahaha okay you've completely discredited yourself here. Everyone knows 50ppp is correct.
