eh, what exactly have made the forum harder to read? I haven't come across anything yet. The in-thread-titles not being bold seems like a silly thing to be annoyed by, and can hardly make the forum more difficult to read. Could you give examples of some of the "plenty of stuff" that have made the forum harder to read?

edit: actually, them not banning the recent NVG idiots, 2 in particular, have ruined a few threads. If that is what you're thinking of, I agree.

Literally anything that was bolded, i.e. done so that it stands out for a reason, is now some super fine light font that is barely visible. Why change so it does the exact opposite to what it used to do?

I just rolled it back. The change was made by accident. Thanks for the feedback.

When you were in high school you didn't want to be on a forum with people in their 30s, but now that you're in your 30s you want the forums set up around people in their 30s. Got it.

On that topic Bryce, I don't agree with what you wrote, but I agree with your general sentiment. Getting a broader group of people to post would be a good thing, and getting younger people on board would be part of that.

Rich Muny, Thank you for your response and work on behalf of the ppa. I stand by what I wrote, and I think the general sentiment is more important than the seemingly vitriolic parts of my posts.

As I’ve said, I have had friends on here who were young, attractive, intelligent who were not always treated the best by certain mods, and not just the ones they would guess Im referring to. That in and of itself was a net negative for 2p2. I also agree with what mark dirt said, I think there should be less looking in the glass ball to discern who the trolls are and who sucks and more emphasis on fun.

One thing I’d say is young people are far more likely to have talent and at the same time not know the correct etiquette involved in forum conversations. It’s actually why my response mentioned focusing on talent instead of trolling. Young people are more likely to have hidden talents. Even if they aren’t banned, infracting “bad” posters is not going to make some rich kid feel welcome , in fact people who are used to being treated very well are most likely to leave over quibbling. When I was falsely accused of being a troll my initial thought was not “ well, I better spend the next 6 months defending my status as a non troll who conforms to the customs of twoplustwo “ it was “ lol, I know my value, you’re a weirdo”

At the same time, a lot of the suggestions I thought of when responding to madlex and have not said are likely not ideas that would both help twoplustwo and not offend its user base. I look forward to seeing what changes take place and hope for the best.

Sincerely, Bryce

It’s really unhealthy to be most comfortable talking to people around your own age

I’m not that smart. I’m far from dumb, but I’m not traditionally smart and there were older people here all too happy to take advantage of my mental deficiencies. The brain doesn’t fully develop until your twenties. The reason I said the snippet you quoted is because I wanted to make clear I am not just talking about dumb young people, I’m talking about people who brought a lot to the table.

If someone is actually dumb, ie IQ below 85, they probably should be discouraged from involvement in the poker world, which is why I would not focus my critique on that group. If there was a second group I’d discuss, and no group has been as casually derided on here as the young, it would be women.

Yes, a group has been casually derided far, far, far more than the young, and you just named them. I don't see how it can even be close.

I don't say that to dampen your concerns about how young people are treated, but there's no question in my mind that most forums treat women, in general, horribly.

Although I should add - I'm mostly thinking of how women are spoken about, not about how individual women are treated as posters. And I'm an old guy, so obviously I have no personal experience as a member of either group.

True! You’ve always been a good moderator.

Sexism in the gambling world is a long and complicated issue and tldr yes there is a lot of it.

At the moment my advice would just be :

1. Try to tone down sexism

2. Ask actual women about it in an honest way who have involvement in the gambling world.

Speaking for myself and no one else I’m associated with, and it is obvious if you carefully considered my posts, I like rich old men.

Well, I know a 70 year old who recently sold a website for a few dollars. I think he might be spoken for, though.

People are attracted to Vegas and Gambling for different reasons. Some people want to post strictly professionally while others … do not?

I’m not attracted to rich older guys just because they have a lot of money.

everyone’s different and has their own wants.

One difference between the other forum I post on where almost everyone is gay or female or here is that there’s a lot less stalking and a lot less competing about who is right. I mean people trash talk each other but not in a “ I must win the arguement” way . For the most part everyone just accepts they want different things, have different views and like different guys.

One difference between me and other women who post here is I get hit on less. I mean Plenty of people have said crude remarks or asked for nudes or to meet up over the years but not on the same scale as attractive female posters.

So anyway for some there are certain seedy appeals that register that don’t for others. I personally would like to read less about who the shitty posters are and 8 pages about why someone is incorrect and more about sex.

As far as what is and isn’t sexist context matters and you should probably believe women’s opinion over your own most of the time or my opinion if something is homophobic over your own most of the time. And by most of the time I mean almost always.

Andrew, Max, feel free to un-"guest" my main account (Max Cut). Mat guested it because I needled him at an apparently bad time.

When you have been "Guested" your account was completely deleted and irretrievable. Furlonged is another term for it as he was one of the first to be deleted.

Thanks for the information, Videopro.

Perhaps Mat (or Malmuth or whoever did it, I never did find out who or why) felt the predicted second poker boom provided an environment where long-standing accounts are expendable on a whim and easily countervailed with banner ads. *shrug*

Especially if you're planning to unban wide swaths and cut back on moderation substantially, make it easier to block someone's posts from your view. It should be as simple as clicking on their user name, and having an option "Block this user" instead of having to navigate into my own account settings and search out the block section.
