That's up for TPTB to decide. If another feels comfortable vouching for you, and a mod feels comfortable with that vouch...

It's really early yet, and there's a lot of people who seem to expect this to be resolved immediately. Doesn't seem like that's going to happen.

And in response to the above diatribe, I don't think anyone is blaming the posters. But I LOLed when you said that you change emails for security, but never changed your 2p2 email, even though you make your living on 2p2.

Um...yeah. Not your fault the forums went down. But screaming about how unfair it is that some posters make their livelihood on here but didn't take the basic precaution of ensuring their email address on here was up to date is a little LOL.

If you have proof and have sent it in, there's not much else you can do accept wait. I know that sucks, we've all been waiting two weeks for 2p2 to come back up, but another day or two isn't going to kill anyone.
and for some more perspective, there's exactly ONE person answering emails.

i know we have a lot of customers, which is awesome and humbling, but there ain't too many of us "admins".

i have a few ideas about dealing with future verifications and i have no doubt that others will come forward with even better ways to make that happen, but some people will have to wait a few days before we can even look. in the meantime you can make a new account and participate if you like. no restrictions in that area.

A) Why not?
B) This is the userid I originally reported "AOL users aren't getting email" so I figured I should reply from the same place to report "fixed".
C) The shame of admitting from my "real" 2+2 userid that I still use an aol.com userid would be too much to bear.

But the mods can use IP addresses to figure out who I am if they care since I've now rather openly logged on from this userid and my "real" one. But a corollary to (A) above is "who cares?"

Now I shall put my quad kings ID to rest. Sleep well, young prince.

I think the response from 2+2 has been adequate and don't expect things to be resolved overnight. I just really hope that you all will work to (eventually) find a workable solution for us to verify and restore our accounts.

I think you have me confused with someone else. I didn't go on a diatribe about anything. I'm not even sure what you are talking about.

That being said I'm in no real hurry to get my ncboiler sn back. It's all good. However it would be nice to get it back sometime.

I appreciate your effort in answering probably a ton of emails, but please read my post above and look at the points. I forgot to mention another problem with asking people to make a new ID - this opens door to people faking others by making new names with numbers and other things to impersonate. It is crucial for people to get their original names back. If people don't remember what email address they used to register, you should be able to simply tell them what that email address is. If they are not owners of such email they can't access it anyway. If people just want subscribed threads moved to a new ID, they should be able to do that.

It seems to me that the real problem here is 2p2 never had enough staff to deal with the back-end side of running a forum(security, software, account issues, etc) and that's why the shutdown lasted so long and people can't get back in their accounts.

The fact that a mod would 'LOL' at someone who can't get in their account when this is happening to a huge number of people disgusts me quite frankly. Let me explain to you why some players don't use their current active email for 2p2:

1- we don't get/want any communication from forums outside the forum itself(most most people don't)
2- if you're a winning MS/HS player your priority is to make sure people don't hack into your account on Pokerstars, or your email account, IM, etc etc. Scams are posted almost daily on 2p2 where people's accounts have been hacked. The safest way to make sure this is the case is to not let any randoms know which is your current active email, current active IM, skype, etc.

The fact that 2p2's data was accessed by outsider PROVES THE POINT about not storing whatever information you consider as private on 2p2's server. To a lot of us, our active email address IS part of that private information, because we use that to communicate with Pokerstars etc and make transactions etc. If that email address is made public then scammers could try to hack into the account. But they can't hack into an email address if they didn't know what it was. And email addresses and passwords = the exact breach that's occurred here with 2p2. I bet you through this 2p2 shutdown out of the people who have a lot of money online, those that used a separate set of passwords and email addresses are more relieved than someone who played online as say durrrr123 and registered with 2p2 as durrrr123 with durrrr123@hotmail.com and same password on 2p2 as PS. At least I'm glad that my online accounts are not at risk here, just the 2p2 original account. I personally know people who immediately worried about their online account being hacked on Apr 26 because they used the same email address and password with 2p2.

I should not have to explain this but apparently that was necessary.

Apparently you just want to rampage and feel all high and mighty.

I wasn't laughing at you or anyone who can't access their primary account. I feel badly for anyone in that spot and hope they can get their account back (even pompous sounding people like you).

I was LOLing at your logic fail, where you blamed 2p2 because:

a) some people rely on 2p2 for their livelihood
b) some of those people change their emails for security purposes.

If you make your living doing something and don't take the simple precaution of making sure your livelihood is as secure as possible, including making sure your accounts you need to access match up with valid email accounts, then you aren't to blame for 2p2s breach, but you are to blame for your own security misstep that is now causing a lag (not necessarily a complete disaster) in getting your primary account back. When you change your accounts for security, you could make a new, completely otherwise unknown email account for your 2p2, which you use for a living, too, right? Or did you just want to start shouting again?

Sorry if that offends you in some way. Continue ranting about how badly 2p2 has treated everyone.

i'm not trying to be disrespectful. i'm perfectly capable of making the same mistakes in this area. But when you say "Let me explain to you why some players don't use their current active email for 2p2" nobody has any issue with that.

They have an issue with you not writing it down somewhere and being able to reference it in a case like this. But as far as getting everything straightened out, please be a little patient. I will do my darnedest to make sure people are reunited with their accounts.

It's going to be a few days.

SGT RJ,

Shouldn't you, as a mod, try to solve people's problems right now instead of putting words in their mouths?

Saying 2p2 should be more transparent about a security breach that affected the livelihood of a lot of people that supported this website/publishing company over a long time is not a 'rant'. I can understand if they want to wait a little longer, all they need to do is say a little more than they have. I have been very respectful towards 2p2 in all my posts in this thread btw.

You sound like someone that blamed people after Black Friday for leaving too much of their net worth on Full Tilt.

I apologize if I stepped over on the sarcasm meter.

Again, I didn't intend to laugh at you. I was simply trying to say that people should be patient, and it is a little silly to lay the blame on 2p2s feet for people not knowing their email addresses IF they were using 2p2 for something as important as their livelihood.

As Mat has said, it's going to take time for people to get access if they don't remember their primary account email, but it's very early to be jumping on 2p2 for denying people access when TPTB are working as quickly as possible to help a ton of people.

I guess I'll just shut up now since other than "be patient, I'm sure you will get responded to as quickly as possible" I can't really help.

Sorry if I came off too harshly, 66. I really wasn't laughing at you, but I probably didn't phrase it well.

And I never blamed anyone with money stuck on FTP. I don't blame any of the users who are stuck without access. I just think it's harsh to jump down 2p2s throat when they've been up less than 24 hours and are obviously trying to get to tons of people with only ONE person responding to this specific issue.

Who do you know in the HSNL community that will vouch for you? I'm connected with alot of folks and if we have a mutual acquintance, that's the easiest way for you to get this resolved quickly.

As far as your questions, there's a ton of good reasons for 2p2 to not be transparent at this point, particularly if they are going to be or are already talking to law enforcement. Being quiet is pretty standard procedure in the immediate term with details of a breach.

Anyway, if I can help you out, I'll be happy to.

Hi,

i have not received an email with a new password although i still have access to the email account connected to 2p2.

I do receive all other emails from 2p2. Could someone please send me a new password manually? I guess that i would be able to receive that. (?)

My username is pokerbot_v7.
