Are mods enabled to do this or does it have to be an admin? I've moderated another site for 4 years and mods cannot do this, if it is the same situation here I understand but if mods can switch one's usernames and it isn't too much trouble I would be very thankful as 'thrasher789' is my old highschool nickname and I've grown to hate it.

admins only iirc but they won't do it unless you're like a super poster...looks like they let noah change his name but hes one of the few exceptions i can think of

naw I meant online nickname, and it was named after a skateboarding magazine called 'thrasher' and i thought it would be cool to slam some numbers on the end I guess. fwiw some people did start calling me thrarsher in real life though as a joke.
