Hello,
I would like to formally request a new forum for "Atlantic City Lifestyle", similar to the Las Vegas one.

Atlantic City now has 9 casinos, all open 24 hours, with 5 of these casinos having poker rooms. Also, with sports betting now being legal in NJ, casino revenues in AC are growing. I think a new forum where we discuss AC food, AC trip reports, AC hotels, AC entertainment, etc etc would be very helpful and interesting.

I realize we have a general AC thread in the casino venue forum but this new "Atlantic City Lifestyle" would go beyond what is discussed there (which is mostly about poker).

I could get down on that. About to roll into AC today and play a little freezing cold golf, grind some tables then possibly go out later and I'm gonna be solo Steven Glansburg

I don't think there's nearly enough demand for one. If there were, you would see it in that AC thread you mentioned (you can talk about non-poker stuff there, FYI). It has 12 posts in the past month.

That forum name would tickle our intellects.

I'm going to say using that statistic is a terribly flawed method of determining demand.

And you would be wrong.

Of course it's far from perfect, but it's useful information, and probably the best measure we have as a starting point. Especially when it's that low - if it was a couple hundred a month, that would still be quite low, but you could argue it could be built into more as a standalone forum. A dozen...that's a really steep hill to climb.

The next best measure would be the amount of interest expressed in this thread. So far, two people (including OP) have shown support. Again, not a perfect measure - but two people in a week certainly isn't demonstrating a lot of pent-up demand.

Don't get me wrong; I'd love to see us have a thriving Atlantic City forum. But I also don't want to see us open it and then have to discuss closing it a few months later since it got no interest and is fragmenting what little interest AC poker has over multiple threads.

OP, if you haven't already, I'd suggest trying to drum up some support for this among your fellow AC players, and direct them to this thread so they can let TPTB know that they would post in such a forum.

However, "the amount of interest expressed in this thread" could be a good starting point, and it isn't the "next best measure", it is the only real measure you have at this point. I think it is a some what useful measure. You are correct.

I'd say this thread isn't the most relevant in assessing support.

You may consider moving (duplicating?) this thread to the mod forum for further evaluation and action.

Hoping it gets the treatment it deserves. Promise to be active if you ever get it up and running. Will post scenes from Rounders and will support a resurrection of Taj also. And I will learn the names of all the current casinos, and imagine how it would be to kill the games there, and share. Promise!

I am surprised with all the hate this idea and thread are getting.

Atlantic City remains the second/third prime poker location in the world (tied with LA). On most Fridays/Saturdays, there are 70-100 tables of poker games going across the town. There are strip clubs, night clubs, hookers and plenty of excellent restaurants.

I'm surprised you were able to find any hate. There's hardly any negativity, let alone hate.

Not a lot of support either, though. So far, it looks like maybe three people with genuine interest in the forum, in over two months. We'd probably want to see a little more interest than that.

I just stumbled across this thread, and I'd be interested in such a forum. Although I don't necessarily expect it to be very popular, I don't think the number of people voicing their support in an About the Forums thread is a great way to gauge interest in it. My only finding this thread now is one example of why.

I agree. I would hope that anyone who proposes an idea like this has already had the discussion with those who might be interested, or linked them to this thread.

I'd like to see more easy-to-find AC threads, too. I realize there might not be enough interest for a dedicated subforum but maybe there is a middle ground?

There's enough info on 2+2 on the poker rooms. But what about other questions like 'where to stay', 'how to bonus whore, 'where to dine', 'getting there', etc.?

(In case East Coasters are finding my 'getting there' thread suggestion silly. I'm from Europe but do like 1-2 LV and 1-3 AC trips per year. Getting to AC is a lot more difficult for me than getting to LV. No international airport at AC and flights into PHL can be a lot more expensive than flights into, say, NYC. LV is much easier as it's a tourist destination with fair prices unless you need to travel exactly around CES, NAB, or a few other dates.)
