You're right! I am so dumb that I missed this vital point.

It's strange, but every banned poster seems to be able to find a way to post or PM. I'll have to ask them how they do it. Or you could volunteer to be banned and see if you get a sudden flash of inspiration.

Gimmick account for PMing a mod = OK.
Gimmick account for posting = not OK.
Gimmick account for creating "Why was I banned?" ATF thread = not OK, but always a lot of fun.

Already having a good gimmick before getting banned = always a lot of fun, and the best option.
Not getting banned in the first place = the nuts.

Do you mean to tell me that there are actually people who have never been banned?

And what sort of soulless monster doesn't have a single gimmick account?

----------
2) Absolutely do not create a new account to go back to posting whatever it was that got you in trouble in the first place, because posting on a temporary account during a temporary ban will lead to an extension of your original account's ban (even to permanency), and the removal of the secondary account.

3) If you feel your ban is unfair, you should contact:

a - The mod who banned you. State your case, politely, via PM, and there's a chance your ban will be reversed or shortened.
----------

Maybe it could be worded it better. What it says is that you are not to start a second account to post. Then it goes on to suggest PMing he who banned you...no way to do this without a second account, so it seems logical that starting a second account to PM would be the way to go. But really, the solution is so much easier for those of us who believe in this:

I don't hide behind a gimmick account, I hide behind a gimmick.

Hello.

A little while ago I got banned out of absolutely no where. I wasnt even on here for a period of time. I came on and was banned. It said "previously banned troll". I am never negative, rude or use foul language.
I reside at a university campus around Barrie, Ont and was told my IP address is shared with tonnes of others.
So yesterday I created another account hoping this weird banning would stop. The name was Jewels. Low and behold I come on here today and banned again. Check the posts under that name I didnt say a single thing wrong.
I was told by a moderator that the IP is tracked and as soon as they click on me I am linked to that IP address. Its quite obvious someone here at my UNI has been acting childish and breaking the forum rules. Apparantley there is a list of 30 or so accounts under this IP address. I obviously would not create all of that

Can you stop banning me please? I know you're not supposed to create multiple accounts or anything but I had too, to get on here and explain this.
Can you please just put a note beside my name or something stating that I am ok and don't need to be banned.

If not, please just let me know so atleast I quit wasting my time and your time.

Moderator twoplustwostore suggest I write this thread

Thanks, Julie

I am a long time poster and I really feel like my banning is unfair. I however can not see who banned me, pm on my account or pm on this account which I opened to appeal my banning. I don't want to post on this account to get enough to PM as thats against the rules as well, what can I do?

You've been permabanned by rapini for reaching 100 infraction points.

How can I contact Rapini and appeal this banning, if its for what I think it was I really don't think that I deserved the infraction. It's really important to me to be able to continue to use this forum, and while I realize that he doesn't like me I really would like someone to reconsider this for me. I'll stay out of his forum permanently if that helps... I have more that I'd like to say but again this doesn't seem like the place, can I get my PM ability turned on so that I can make my argument in a venue that is more appropriate? I care too much about being a member of this forum to just quietly be permanently banned with a large percentage of my points coming from "no-content" posts in Brick and Mortar.

Hi wrr1986, gtpitch PMed me to let me know you were looking for a way to get in touch with me and linked me to this thread.

I've reviewed your situation and you don't have to worry about getting PMs turned on and all that good stuff so you can argue with me in a more appropriate venue, although I appreciate the fact that you're trying to take the commentary to PMs because that's usually the proper thing to do.

The reason you won't need PMs (at least for getting in touch with me) is I don't see any need to lift the ban.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/55...ar-now-600189/

That thread shows that we've been through all this before. I don't want to make any deals with you re a B&M Forum exile because there's no precedent for it and I don't see the benefit of making more work for the B&M mods, i.e., checking periodically to see if you posted in B&M and then banning you for it. Additionally, you already had the opportunity to impose a self-exile from B&M so that you could avoid warnings and infraction points for low-/no-content posts and trolling comments, but you chose not to do so. I see no reason to have to give that option to you post-ban when you had the option all along and made it explicit yourself, yet you chose not to take it.

As long as you take me at my word or review my other moderation actions, you'll see that I don't have any personal issues with you; if you were a poster by any other name, you would have received the same warnings, infractions, PM responses, tempban, and permaban.

My opinion is the permaban should remain, but I am biased because about 60% of the points you received came from mods in the B&M Forum, and the majority of those came from me. Obviously I am going to agree with my own moderation decisions unless I feel they were overly harsh upon review (which I do not in this instance).

The larger issue here that might be worth some discussion is how many chances does a user deserve before he/she is permanently banned for making the same mistake/violation/whatever you want to call it over and over again? The user in question received a LOT of small warnings and infractions and, in my opinion, had plenty of opportunities to either post better or stay away from the places where he knew he'd get himself into trouble. This was not a situation where he went on an out-of-character horse porn rampage for five minutes one time and was banned for that.

So, summarizing, I am not going to lift the ban on wrr1986, but obviously reds always have the power to overrule me if they feel that I have abused my discretion.
