Don't most mods have their IM names up? Why not just direct someone to IM the mod in question?

Query:

I'm attempting to follow the instructions in the "What to do if you've been banned" sticky and having a problem with step (a). I would like to PM the mod that banned my account, but the "OH HAI U BEEN PERMA'D" screen doesn't identify which mod did the deed.

Are we supposed to just guess?

You seemed to have failed in your attempt to follow the instructions in the "What to do if you've been banned" sticky. It is not that hard.
Quote:
3) If you really feel your ban is totally unfair, you should contact:

a - The mod who banned you. State your case, politely, via PM, and there's a chance your ban will be reversed or shortened. [Edit/MH: Owing to recent PM-activation changes, you will have to e-mail Mat Sklansky at mat@twoplustwo.com and ask him to forward your e-mail to the relevant mod.]
Is that really so hard to follow?

Very well, I will bother Mat Sklansky when it seems unnecessary to do so - this account, while it lasts, has PMs.

And that section should be re-written imo. I don't imagine that changes to the PM system have impacted the fact that "Surprize U Been Bant" screen doesn't always tell you who did the deed.

Actually, never mind. I see that not only was the account banned, all posts were deleted.

Wow.

I took mine down after some random dude contacted me and I decided to lower the risk of scams and took it off. Also, it's how I met hbomb.

Who can I contact to find out why someone is banned from 2+2 who I previously staked or currently consider staking?

Hello, I would like to know what the different user classifications mean. I'm a "stranger" others are "veterans" etc. Are they earned in some way. And why the hell are so many people "banned"? I'm new here and am reading trough old threats and I get the impression that more people are banned than not.

Would like to record my exchange with Rainbow Warrior and resulting temp-ban.

I considered emailing mat@twoplustwo in an attempt to get any message forwarded to Rainbow Warrior however given my already totally reasonable exchange I'm not sure why he would now change tack and see sense.

In this thread http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...-asap-1032606/ another poster posted a link illustrating that you could buy the same product from a website for $3. I was initially interested in buying direct from the marketplace seller but had a look on ebay where they were selling new for $10 so bought from there.

I posted in the thread "yeh these are selling for like $10 on ebay, im buying one". I did not comment on the price OP was offering.

**NOTE: Marketplace rules state that comments on price are not allowed unless someone is selling something for way over the price you could get it for from a reputable seller. I did not comment on the 400% price hike but I believe this would qualify**

Rainbow Warrior then sends me a pm saying "If you've got a link, great. Otherwise stop trolling. Post deleted." and gives me 20 infraction points.

I then sent RW a PM back saying I was not trolling and didn't see the need to post a link to ebay when it is the easiest thing in the world to find. I asked him to overturn his ridiculous infraction. I did not abuse him in any way.

His initial PM said "If you've got a link, great." So reading this in English it shows that if I had included the link it would be fine. So, naturally, I reposted my message, without even a hint of trolling, along with the ebay link.

This post was then deleted, I assume by a different mod who was unaware of the PM sent by RW and assumed it was not allowed regardless. So, quoting the initial PM from RW illustrating that providing a link made the post kosher I reposted.

I then get a message saying I have been temp banned for "constant Marketplace trolling and mod abuse".

Where exactly is the trolling OR abuse? I never abused RW in any way, and am not even doing it now. Just pointed out that it was obviously wrong for him to interpret my post as trolling and did what he asked me to do by posting the link.

It's a trivial matter, but it's disappointing to see how a mod can abuse his powers in such a way and wanted to have it documented so that maybe someone more reasonable e.g. Mike Haven or Bobo can ask him to consider his ability to remain objective and a positive influence on the marketplace and the community as a whole.

I will not be posting on any forum from this or any other temporary account other than to address this issue.

It's likely meant to be a containment thread given the likely large number of threads that get started (Why can't I pm? type thing).

Must have been a really bad first post

Think about that it may be difficult to get a perma ban with the first post in other forums. Has anybody "succeeded", preferrably without the post being deleted? Doubt it...

A person should have the good common sense to understand that you don't register on a forum and immediately start posting links to ebay auctions, let alone jump into a thread where a forum reg is trying to sell something and post links to ebay auctions. Then after being deleted he does it again and starts crying? Dumbass.

You could not have summarized the situation more poorly. That isn't even slightly close to an accurate description. Evidently the bolded is a little hypocritical.

Edit: I've also been here since 2007.

And yet you still can't function on something as simple as an internet forum without being a little **** all the time. Good luck with this and your next few accounts.
