Seriously Misti, just install a mouse gestures addon for firefox or chrome. I click the middle button on my mouse, move up and left, release the middle button and then I'm at the top of the page. I'd do that gesture even if there were a button to take me up to the top.

Seriously, I believe any add-ons can be a bit of a hassle when forum software is upgraded, and considering a major upgrade is in the cards some time in the next several months, a button for something that all of us already have a button on our keyboard for doesn't seem likely to happen.

Honestly don't see what the big deal of adding a button such as this would mean for this type of large forum, when you have so many other useless buttons on here already.

As I've mentioned before, I already have it on my Firefox browser and I love it - especially useful when typing in the dark.

All I'm suggesting is that you test it out, see how it goes - you might be surprised with the positive results you receive from the members.

I use the integrated mouse pad that comes with laptop, I don't have a plug-in mouse connected. Thanks for suggestions tho.

Honestly had started off as a humor based thread - until I saw the "bastard" line. I honestly didn't understand it. My bad...I did not know that it's used as an option for GTFO?!

Please don't add it. Most people have the functionality from something else (keyboard button, mouse gesture, etc.), there are fast ways to do it even without (scroll bar, trackpad gesture, etc.), and it would therefore be nothing more than clutter for the great majority.

Altho, I totally understand the purpose for it just don't see the necessity to have 2 links to it. For those that don't know what it's intended purpose is - it's for the members who don't want to jump to the bottom of last page in a thread, in order to use the quick reply box. But wouldn't having 2 links to the QUICK REPLY be considered more clutter to the forum, than having 1 little button to the TOP?

I also understand about the add-on hassle that Bobo Fett mentioned earlier, and since they will be upgrading soon - I would still like them to simply consider testing this TOP add-on, see how it goes - if it's not too much trouble to add.

The top link discussed in post 49 is tucked away at the bottom of the page, in an area where there's usually no reason to look and in which it's become sort of standard for pages to stash their — yes — clutter, out of the way where it doesn't interfere at all with functionality nor much with aesthetics. The proposal at hand, if I understand it, is to add a button (and an ugly one at that) to every post, where it would be impossible to miss and would detract significantly from the aesthetics of the site and, in my opinion, from the pleasantness of reading threads.

Your point about the quick reply button is apposite — but it's not an argument for inclusion of a fourth button, but rather for removal of that third one. But that's not up for polling.

Judging from the poll, some people like this idea. You've explained why they might. I don't. I've said why.
