I'd love for you to start a thread where you can rationally debate the existence of god. You've already provided a ton of lulz, but I'm always up for more.

Here is a great example of lolmodding by jib

He claims the thread was locked because we were trolling him after I bumped that thread. Instead of deleting the "troll" posts, and/or giving infraction points/warnings, he locks the thread. wtf is that?

This is also the thread where he challenged everyone to change his position from theist to deist, and if you look at his post before the one where he threw a mini-tantrum, you will see that he got to a point where he needed time to look into things because he didn't know how to respond. Here we are almost a year later and he still hasn't honored his word about coming back. A lot of people put in a lot of effort into that thread, and he just bails because he wasn't treated with kid gloves when I bumped it.

He will up and leave a thread after going back and forth with someone for quite some time, never to return, and if you call him out on it he busts out the "I have a job, ya know! I don't just sit around all day thinking about RGT!"

This has caused some animosity amongst Jib and several RGT regulars, including myself. If you need more time to think about something, fine, just say so. There's no need to be childish about it and lock a thread when its bumped just because it wasn't bumped with a, "excuse me, good sir, by chance have you had sufficient time to continue this conversation?"

His latest lulz moment was when he recently started a thread complaining about the lack of high content discussion in RGT. Never mind that he barely even posts there anymore. And never mind that when a high content discussion does take place with him involved, he will flee with no notice. Why should anyone start a conversation with him when they have no way to know if he will see it through? If he wants high content conversation, a good place to start would be the "make me a deist" thread that he last left 11 months ago after needing more time to research and think about things (allegedly).

Look, Jib's clearly a decent guy, he's just annoying to have as a mod based on how he carries himself as a poster.

This is one bit I dont understand, to be frank. Without expressing an opinion one way or the other on Jibninjas in particular - what difference does it make if the moderator is a shoddy poster?

This isn't really a good point, it was Jib's thread and he decided he was done with it. If the OP wasn't Jib and he asked Jib to delete then it would have been locked.

i have to agree it seems strange to lock a 500 post thread. i wouldn't mind knowing a little more about the rationale behind that.

Because eventually the shoddy poster/moderator eventually conspires to say, have the rules of the forum changed to suit his desire to practice avoidance from reality. Have you looked at RGT rules lately? That's exactly what has happened. That is a problem and it is rooted in the fact that too many times Jib has proven to be a poor poster.

There is way more where that came from with regard to Jib's moderating. To be honest it's just extremely tedious for me to go back through all of the RGT threads or all of my posts in order to find even half of them, but I'll try since it seems you are being impartial

i would rather we go one example at a time and hear from Jib himself and others who like his modding before you post more.

I don't know that it's a rule as such, but I would be astonished if either madnak or Jibninjas would ignore an OP's request to lock an RGT thread.

That's interesting that you say that Mat since I saw Jib in this forum viewing this thread a few hours ago and it seems he decided to practice avoidance again

to moderate a forum like rgt when you have strong opinions on the subject has to be very difficult. i don't know much about jib, but i expect he would be very open to constructive criticism.

however, i fully support him banning, infracting and deleting posts which are merely insulting for the sake of insulting. if people can be civil and they have suggestions they should go ahead and post them here.

My interpretation is different - I think there is a fundamental problem in that some people go to RGT to 'share experiences' or somesuch whereas others (like you and I) go to debate and argue over various religious claims. I dont think one set of rules is ever going to make the inevitable friction between the two groups disappear.

I am not yet willing to conclude that RGT's rules have changed to suit Jibninjas's desire to practice avoidance of reality. (Even though there have been many changes/decisions which I dont think are great - it's too hard to know why they were made without being privvy to the conversations, imo).

Except often times that wasn't the case. Lok's post is Exhibit A. Jib is backed into a corner, thread is locked. Create a thread asking why the other thread was locked? That thread is deleted. Ask Jib in another thread why he didn't respond? Infraction.

Yeah it's basically undeniable that the rule was put in so that Jib didn't have to deal with people holding him intellectually accountable anymore. I'd be surprised if madnak disputed that.

i'm finding it very difficult to take you seriously. if you have a sincere desire to change the moderation of RGT you will stop with all the hostility.

the reason it's so easy for me to stay so calm on this particular subject is because i don't care about the topic of that forum in the slightest. i do care that people who do have an interest in the subject can have a satisfying experience.

I think the latest rules are pretty bad. Specifically the stuff about bumping a thread to ask for a response being referred to as harassment. This seems to be pretty clearly a rule suited to jib's own preferences since this pretty much only happens to him as far as I can tell.

As far as the rest of the modding goes, I agree locking that long thread was bad. I don't really know what posts are getting deleted so I can't comment much on that. My only other complaint is that the poster Splendour wasn't exiled years ago. Any thread she enters generally becomes quickly worthless (although I also blame the posters that respond to her ramblings).

I don't view pointing out a part of reality as hostility. Either way, I'm eagerly awaiting his response like you. Unfortunately it seems we cannot move forward until that happens.
