While we are on the subject, how many posts does it take to get PM privileges? I got three infractions in a 30 minute period today for posting on a thread without having those privileges.

Do I just keep posting mindless drivel until I get a message that says I have PM rights?

The first time I looked at this thread it was under NVG with about 5 or 6 posts on it and just started today. Suddenly it is several pages long and started months ago. Anyway, that's my story and I am sticking to it.

The PM rules on the Transfer Money thread are straight forward but when one is new and not used to all the ins and outs, sometimes rules are forgotten. Definitely my fault today for the infractions I received but it wouldn't have been such a problem if I had received an email instead of the PMs telling me I was out of line. Email I know how to use, PM I don't know how to use yet.

In a 48 minute stretch this morning, OP made 45 posts spanning 13 different forums. Yeah this doesn't smell fishy or anything.

It might be time for a short and sweet "WHY CAN'T I PM?" sticky that the tl;dr crowd can handle, something along the lines of "YOU DON'T GET TO PM UNTIL YOU HAVE A BUNCH OF POSTS AND HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR A WHILE. YOU'RE A NOOB YOU DON'T GET ALL THE SHINY TOYS."

Is it the ALL CAPS that somehow makes it unclear?

Does it need a second sentence that says "We're not going to tell you exactly how many posts and how long you have to have been registered - just know that if you can't PM you haven't been around long enough and/or posted enough"?

Would this be easier to understand if I broke out the crayons (ok, the MSPaint) and drew a pretty picture?
