You would be surprised about how many of those issues I support too.

Can affirmative action and merits based approach be said in the same point? Seems like they are at opposite ends of what you think I want.

You seem to want AA. I prefer merit-based.

Amen. This label drift has happened post WW2, and is a paid result of the rise of the "Mad Men".

The amazing thing is that it is just like this here too. By metrics like registration ratio (or even the recent POTUSBOWL popular vote), the Donkeys are a decided majority party. Which means the "middle", and a majority part of the "centrists", are necessarily inside of the Donkey's belly. Wall Street loving Neo-con Donkeys, like H.Clinton, are "rightists", or the "centre right", on the USA scale.

OTOH, a decided majority of USA-ians today favor things like B.Sanders style single payer health. Being a majority, these views necessarily encompass the middle ground... but by definition, are on the "left" side of that area in the middle. In other words, this is the "centre left", on the USA scale.

No need for the word "else" above. It is all the same here. Only... us USA-ians lack the usable vocabulary words needed to be able to describe this sad state of affairs.

In democratic politics it matters if the goat ****ers are also supportive of the good things such as the NHS.

(As long as they dont fiddle with the kids).

I was in a Morphismus meme once. It was quite the scandal at the time.

I am unwilling to ally with racists to get Medicare for all.

If we have narrow definitions of 'ally' and 'racist' then sure but when those definitions become so broad that it encompasses not engaging with a huge proportion of the voters (quite likely a sizable majority whe we had the other varieties of goat) then that's a catastrophe for the progressive politcal forces in a democracy.

Chez never had a problem allying with racists.

Never was fan of polarisation in politics. It's extremely dangerous for any democracy.

Also not going to apologise for not hating anybody.
10-02-2018 , 05:28 PM
Hey you should mod that alternative politics forum!
10-02-2018 , 05:29 PM
You don't have to hate racists, just don't encourage them by offering them tea and sympathy.
10-02-2018 , 05:37 PM
Encouraging political enagagement with the huge swathe of the electorate that some would call racist/etc is a good thing.

Us refusing to engage with them is awesome for the extremists and populists
10-02-2018 , 05:39 PM
I'm a strong advocate of engaging with them in more confrontational ways than stroking their brows while they spew hateful racist bile.

What do you think your moderation of P7 achieved apart from giving hateful racist rhetoric a platform?
10-02-2018 , 05:43 PM
I confront them with policies, progressive views, protest etc.

I dont support polarisation like you do. That's only the path to disaster

Uh no. It's exactly the way the National Front were dismantled in the 70's, if you remember. It seems you'd have had us creating conferences for them and their awful supporters to attend.

I hope you realise how you come across when you're soft and sympathetic to these people.
