I know this thread is closed, but I have an important update. I just spoke with Mason. He is fine with this decision. Those who were unhappy with our rule over politics are free to post links to the new forum.

The future of a politics forum on this site remains to be seen, but there will be no urgency in regard to shuttering the forum as it still exists or perhaps starting all over.

I do sincerely apologize for any distress this may have created. I hope those of you who post about politics away from here still feel welcome to remain members of the community over here.

Well named - add this to the politics chat if you can but I would assume the same would apply to me that if I was to start a new politics forum for conservative posters that I could link the forum in politics and if not at least in the ATF politics thread?

You're asking the wrong person about that but I'm going to say no anyway. It seems to me that the mistake you're making is in thinking that some kind of parity between liberals and conservatives is required here, but that misunderstands the situation, I'd say. The reason (IMO; AFAIK) the admins are willing to take this approach with the politics regs is because it's a large group of longstanding forum members, not because they are liberal. There is no similar group of conservative posters who are being sent away.
