Greetings,

New to this site about 4 months ago. I have been a poker player for 15 years. Started in 2001 and was an internet kid. I made a lot and lost alot. Moved to Florida in 2006 and played the casino cash games and some tourneys. Was probably a break even player at best.
In the last year I upped my game and have been a winning player on some bigger limits and have had some tournament success.

I started this thread to give the owners of the site and those brave souls who patrol these parts with such confidence some feedback. . I would say 75% of comments on here are snide, arrogant, not helpful and generally bad spirited.

I came here to share my love of poker and learn. I am leaving knowing that the internet is a place for cowards to rule. Perhaps if you are reading this and are one of the people who choose to take their real life ills out on online strangers, perhaps you should reconsider. You may be missing knowledge or friendship.

To the mods who like to close threads because they are not properly labeled in their proper place, I give you this: To learn a mans true character, give him a little power.

Peace out girl scout.

Btw... plenty of threads/Forums within 2+2 that are great for learning and growing. One titled News Views & Gossip might not be the best for that.

Sounds like that you are talking just about the threads you have been involved in. Could it be you that are the odd one out here?

I am basing my experience on the strategy forums. I am putting this thread here so the naziesque mods cant move this thread and ultimately to create some positive change here for future poker players.

And peace out to you too tough guy.

Perhaps I am creating conflict with my genuine questions? I dont see it and I usually quite self effacing and have a pretty good sense of self.

Is it not possible that there are a lot self proclaimed geniuses on here with some miserable turds sprinkled in?

I advise that you take a chill pill.

Perhaps I do. I am used to giving and getting respect and treating people even strangers decently.

I assumed that genuine poker inquiries would be taken seriously on a site such as this one. There were some GREAT threads but I wanted my point to be kicked around. Some of the mods are truly overly self aggrandizing and there are a plethora of omniscient posters who are truly killers on the .25/.50 tables that have it ALL figured out.

I advise you think about what I am saying, perhaps you are part of the problem? Perhaps your internet persona means nothing and you need to get more out of your real life?

Hi danny, you seem to have very thin skin, but the internet is a harsh place. Sorry.

Lol - I've been on here for about 10 years and your post count will catch me up in a few months.

I have been married for probably longer than you have existed, so I do have a real life.

I don't need to think about what you are saying - you are nothing new and special.

I am sure thats the case. BUT- there are some people that maybe should reconsider how they act online. Very unhealthy to take your real life short comings out online to undeserving strangers. Its a major issue and more so for the offenders. Doesnt help them feel better, in fact its the contrary.

Perhaps I did strike a nerve with you. Why else would you have responded one to the initial and two to my prodding above?

I was trying to let you know that you are making a bit of an ass of yourself with regards to how you are being perceived here, but you obviously know better.

There is a very small sub group of people that don't try to understand the organizational structure of a forum. There are those that also refuse to read or abide by the posting policies spelled out at the top of each forum.

Sounds like you may be one of these people, in which case forum posting may not be for you.

Hi dannyboy:

I couldn't help but notice that you use the name "dannyboy." I'm sure you know, given how long you've been around poker, that "dannyboy" is an insulting way of referring to Daniel Negreanu. Now while it's fair to say that Negreanu is not my favorite poker person, aren't you doing the exact thing that you're complaining about?

Best wishes,
Mason

OP, when I look at your posting history, I find this thread a little surprising. Admittedly I've only looked at a small portion, mostly from when you first started. I checked out your thread in the Home Poker thread, where you raved about all the helpful people, numerous times. Then the thread you started in Poker Tells, where it also seemed to go well. What happened since?

I did see that you started a thread in BBV that got a lot of replies (Edit to add: Oops, no, looks like you started a bad beat thread elsewhere and it got moved there), and that couldn't have helped, because AFAIK that's always been a forum full of people trolling one another, mostly meant in good fun, but it wouldn't be for everyone.

Also, you have an incredibly negative view of forum moderators, yet I only see one of your threads that was locked. You also have no infractions or even warnings. Have a lot of your posts and/or threads been deleted, that I'm not seeing?

Just seems odd to me that after only 2.5 months here, and starting so well, you've flipped your impression around so quickly.

Mason,

I've been a member here going on a couple of years. In my time, I've come across many of your posts. I must say though, that this is the most far reaching post I've seen to date. I've been around poker probably longer than OP, and I never knew Daniel N. to be known as "Dannyboy". I HAVE, however, heard of him going by "Cup boy" (which should give a clue as to how far back I go with him).

"Danny Boy" is Danny Nguyen's nickname, if my memory serves me correctly.

dandy man is a much more common expression albeit Danny Boy, Cuo or whatever does work.

Glad to here you've been around poker for a long time, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Fair. This thread was a bit over reaching. Perhaps this was a bit hasty. There have been a lot of good threads. Apologies.

I think the amount of useful advice given on poker forums is actually higher than what one would expect in such a highly competitive industry.

Compare poker with finance. Let me quote a discussion from the Business, Finance and Investing forum:

obviously theres variance in both poker and trading but what kind of returns can different types of traders get?

what kind of edge on the market or roi can a trader expect? (ev adjusted)

-with 1,3,5 years experience
-with talent levels a, b, or c
-in types of trading a, b, or c

seems like nobody even attempts to answer any of these things. maybe the only people responding know just enough to point out hazards

The trading world just doesn't work like this. People have more common sense and are much more secretive about strategies, earning potential and similar info. They know that if they freely shared this information, they would find it a lot tougher to make money. I don't know why the poker world is like this. It could be because it's mostly populated with naive 20-30 year old males, with huge egos and no basic level of common sense.

Great info all of my craziness aside ^

I share knowledge of all kinds so it's not foreign to me to give strangers nuggets of wisdom when I can.

I have found some people to be very accommodating.

I can't believe that you guys got what is UNDOUBTEDLY one of Mason's best posts (and obvious levels) ever and didn't give it the attention it deserved.

Instead, we let dannyboy blame his outrageous inability to keep his cool on cocaine. Is this what 2p2 has come to?!
