Maybe I need to be more clear then. This is a poker forum so I would hope the mods can play poker, to the extent that they could beat a low limit mixed game (variety of poker games). I don't follow how those who aren't competent can be in charge.

Why?

Let's start with the strat forums - I can at least see an argument for competency at the games being valuable there (but I don't agree with it being a requirement), but why mixed game competency comes into play I have no idea.

Non-strat forums, there's no reason I can see that how well mods play poker should have a detrimental effect.

And for non-poker forums, there's definitely no reason it would.

Can you provide some examples of where this has caused a problem? Because your idea seems like a solution in search of a problem.
