Max, just found this thread. A couple of very minor bugs:

When I click a link (either from the left-hand 'navigation' pane, or the main 'content' and the main pane refreshes, the 'PgDn' button doesn't work for scrolling until after I've clicked into the main pane. This seems like the 'main' pane doesn't get focus after postback (?).

Second, if the 'navigation' pane is scrolled down a ways, then a link is clicked, the left-hand pane kind of resets toward the middle instead of leaving it where I'd scrolled to. Kind of annoying for people clicking sequentially through the forums. Example: I have Live Poker, 2+2 Communities, and Other Topics expanded. If I scroll down to see all of Other Topics (2_2 Communities at the top), then click (say) Travel, the left-hand pane is refreshed such that Live Poker > Tournament Events is at the top.

I'm on Chrome, Windows 10. Browser not full screen height. Not sure if either of those is significant to scrolling.

As I say, these are very minor issues.

The "Reason for Edit" text doesn't show up on posts any more.

Edit: See?

Left navigation pane's scroll should remain at the same position while navigating. It works so on the latest versions of Firefox, Edge and Chrome. I'm gonna test it out on different versions to locate the problem.

Nope, 'Pg Dn' still doesn't work on initial content load. More info though!

If I'm opening a forum, 'Pg Dn' works. When opening a thread, though, it doesn't. Seems to be consistent whether I'm opening the thread by clicking on the title or the 'last unread' (arrow icon) link.

Wouldn't worry a huge amount about this.

Left-hand nav unscrolling issue seems better. It now stays pretty much in position.

Thanks, Max!

Multiple issues have come up in the companion thread in the Mod forum, when you have a chance, Max.

Thank you, Bob. You've helped with a new theme more than everyone else combined. I really appreciate it.

No worries. Even as I slowly ratchet down my time on the site, I always want to see it improve.

Yes, it was changed so it shows up if you hover over the post number.

Not helpful. I shouldn't need to do anything extra; it should just be there.

Location is missing in the poster's info.

Noticed this before, but can't find an example now. I think I went through the 'About the Forums' link to find a 'contact us'-type function, so might look there for info.

Anyway, I've seen a few threads where there is extra paging. In other words, the last actual post is on page X, but the paging function shows X+1, X+2, etc

Doesn't create an error. Clicking on X+1 just brings you back to page X. So incorrect, but not crashing or anything.

Definitely helpful (to me at least), but I'd agree that's not as good. Not sure if there's a reason not to go all the way with it.

LOL, can't believe none of us noticed (or at least mentioned it) before now.

The "jump to new posts" button is quite small and if you put it next to a thread link it will be hard to hit it with a finger. Desktop version on the other hand is clicked with a mouse.

Some inconsistencies between mobile and desktop design are inevitable.
Um, that is not exactly true. Mobile tablets offer desktop versions of their browsers (I have used them). I prefer the desktop version on tablets, and have never had problems with forums (MyFico, 2+2. etc.)

Also, you are forgetting many laptops come with touch screens now (my 17" is a touch screen). Though I mostly use moue, it is easier to increase screen size when these old eyes can't read, than to adjust resolution on monitor (just keep cleaning cloth near by).

I'll add that the current solution doesn't help on phones, where there is no ability to hover.

I'm not really understanding your point. None of this changes the fact that they need to accommodate for phone use.

The quoted post pertained to most of larger computer use is with mouse. That is not the case anymore (I can pull up search screens fir my TV, and use voice controls for searching).

Accommodating for phone use, vs One way or the other, is not part of our mobile yet web enabled ux design (modern times). Was just pointing out that not all computers are using mouses these days.

Can threads with polls in them not have the word "Poll" as the first word in the thread? It makes it hard to scan a forum looking for a particular thread subject when that word is in a lot of threads.

Example see my quote below inserted in between your quotes as if I was reply to your posts with a prior quote of mine before going on outside the quoted area.

It is still something that can be followed but because my inserted quote amongst yours loses the definition of a separate quote box, that did exist prior, it is not as clear particularly in longer threads.

Just an FYI.
