Hi all!!

This is my first post and I want to discuss something that has hit me very close to home. Internet censorship and elitism.

Last night I finally created a 2+2 account, and in my excitement and desire to be known and accepted as fast as possible, I went a bit overboard. i.e. created 5 or 6 new threads within an hour. Now out of these threads I made about 40 posts during my time here, none flaming, none disrespectful, none out of line at all IMO. In fact, I was flamed! I was disrespected! During all of this I said to myself "Just ignore them and sooner or later maybe they might contribute something besides ridicule."

Well, almost no one did. The few who made suggestions to me about etiquette and such, I immediately listened to. Someone told me to stop posting in all caps and such, and I IMMEDIATELY stopped. FURTHERMORE I was banned for "posting unwanted spam"?!?!?!?! LOL!! Show me the spam PLEASE! I think that's garbage and although I admit i haven't read 2+2's policies on such, I find it VERY hard to believe that introducing myself in a few different forums, is SPAM, and worthy of a permanent ban.

More likely, I think that I was banned because maybe someone feared I may pass their post count, or because one of their jokes wasn't as funny as they thought or something similar because I am positive violated NONE of 2+2's policies last night. (Unless you consider saying "Hi" and such SPAM.)

I have read this forum for years, defended it in other forums when i wasn't even an active member here, and I go a little overboard on my first night here and get BANNED?

I don't to cause any trouble I was just looking for a few laughs and maybe to give some others some too. I'm pretty sure there were at least a few people who were enjoying my threads.

Anyway,and more to the point. I love the internet and think of it as the new frontier where there is no regulation and we are free to do what we wish. I would think that the last place I would get banned for something so debatable would be the politics forum.

Well, I am sure that somehow, this post is BAN WORTHY!! LOL!!!
If the person who banned me would come to their senses and unban that account I really loved the screen name I had.

I am gonna try to make a poll, but I am a noob at 2+2 sooo idk if it will work.

This is me trying to make up for / explain last night to anyone i offended and at the same time bring a little talked about issue to the forefront.

I doubt the people you offended were in this forum? At least, I didn't see any of your spamming posts here. Just so you know, most times when one wants to complain about a moderating decision or something of that nature, like a ban, they go to "About the Forum" and post there. Though there aren't many examples, you should post in a civil manner, not much unlike your OP in this thread.

The issue, which I assume is internet censorship, isn't much of an issue. The type of censorship you're talking about, I think most people are going to be cool with here. 2+2 is a private website. Much like my house is my own, and I can tell people to get out or not, the 2+2 owners, and their representatives (mods, I guess) can tell people to get out, or not.

Government censorship, on the other hand, most people are against. I am of the opinion that no government censorship should exist, in absolute terms.

As far as government/private censorship goes , I pretty much agree with you on both counts and if two plus two wants to randomly and unfairly ban people well, then thats their prerogative.

In that context I feel it is MY Prerogative to do what I can to enact a sort of change (maybe a warning system or some such) instead of respecting the ban. i.e. making this new account and addressing the issue!

I don't really know what you're talking about, anymore. Also, I think making a new account while yours is banned isn't allowed. I'm not sure though.

For a new account, permabans are the way to go. It obviously wasn't too traumatic for you since you figured out how to circumvent it already. Of course, wookie is going to find this thread eventually, and obliterate you again.

Question: do the poasts I make in this thread get deducted from my poast count after wookie nukes it? I'm almost to 15k.

kafkapoe, you just got to chill man, and stop acting like the politics forum is your only goal in life.

I agree, people will attack you personally and without cause, but it matters not they have no way of communication other than insults and inflammation. Relax have fun, i laugh the hardest when people insult me, it shows the lack of maturity, intelligence, and logical thought process they have towards the topic at hand. They don't agree with what you say but cannot argue the point so they hijack the thread by creating personal attacks. Its a political board take it with a grain of salt.
