Incognito mods have got to go - About the Forums

clarknasty in sporting events is evidently a mod - however he has no green letters or special location or undertitle that indicate this. Yet he gives instructions that are indecipherable from trolling for those who aren't aware he is a mod, and then bans people if they don't follow those instructions. That is unfair. People are getting banned when they wouldn't be had they know he was a mod.

hmm i guess that does provide a bit of plausible deniability but i don't think people should be expected to check that list each time they get trolled to see if the person trolling them is an incognito mod.

imagine if a drunk bum came up to you and told you to get off the sidewalk while he drooled on your shoes and when you ignored him he arrested you. his name being on a list of drooling drunk bum cops down at the county courthouse doesn't seem sufficient to excuse the absurdity of that.

i'm not taking issue with the rules. i think the rules in SE are actually the clearest, fairest and most appropriate for an online community of any forum (that i've seen) on 2+2. what i have a problem with is undercover enforcers banning people for ignoring what amounts to garden variety trolling when coming from a non-mod.

technically i agree but that's not practical. mods should be easily identifiable. isn't that the purpose of them having green letters? it's pretty ridiculous to stick a few random mods in there that look like other posters and say 'lol gotcha' when people ignore their instructions.
