Well for one thing, secure the site at all times and not let whatever security lapse...ever. If I'm on here and I don't see the lock in the top left corner, then I don't want to be here. Not safe for ANY visitor. You bottleneck your own view counts with a lapse...
Change the layout so it doesn't look like it's run by Geocities
UnstuckPolitics is wayyy better in functionality. Copy the things you like from that format. Freshen up the look of this place...The colors are drab as ****
Dark mode option would be nice too. Easier on the eyes and you have a lot of old people on here
Facebook has a bajillion ads and never once has one just taken up half the screen preventing me from clicking certain buttons to post and read
I'm guessing they hardly sell books and the ad revenue is needed. Well, this is a forum, and it's effectively social media. So observe Twitter, IG, FB, TikTok and become more like them. Figure out a way to monetize the way they do
Is it really that hard to code in like buttons and emojis? lol @ smilies...Stuck in the 2000s
I just think it can do better. Way better than this. Still selling books? Advertise them on the site. Sales. Referral bonuses. Get better books. I don't frequent most of the site, but BFI and P&S have an almost obsessive following. Why not sell politics and investing books? History books, documentaries for the geeks in History forum? Have a podcast? A social media presence?
I play dfs regularly and 22 has been mentioned many times in dfs circles. Daily fantasy is a thing. Should probably have a whole forum for dfs alone
Sports betting is expanding state by state. The subforums can probably be cleaned up a little or changed so it's cleaner. I remember like 15 years ago I suggested through a new thread to change "Internet Gambling" to "Internet Poker" as that made sense for a variety of reasons. Keep up w the times. Sports betting is expanding in the US, as is dfs which has been around a while now, so perhaps it's time to take a look at those forums and make new ones or combine old ones that don't make sense. I dunno, I'm just spitting out ideas

I see color I see authority within 22. I know mods volunteer (bless them for their agony) but to me they rep the site. This section is more like customer service to me than, say, BFI. Only reason I said it like that. It's no big deal to me, but while I'm making suggestions and giving criticism just doesn't seem like that's the best way to respond to it. I would expect that out of some rando from OOT or something, not ATF
I've run a business before and one thing I've learned is that sometimes you need to hear what you suck at to know you suck at it. Some people never complain, so it's entirely possible that quality of X, Y, or Z deteriorate and you just lose the business quietly without knowing why. I could have just not said anything or started this thread and I suppose then you'd just assume the ad isn't hurting you in any way. I would assume more info is better than less, no?
I always asked my customers how things were. And any time something was wrong I'd demand they tell me. Not sayin it should be like that here lol but in my situation it was important. 1) It would make the customer feel like I truly care about them and the product I sell them is quality. 2) It allowed me to plug leaks where I never otherwise would have known without the critique. 3) All experiences get passed on to others. It is how you earn your reputation and sometimes that matters. I suppose a global world means word of mouth isn't so powerful, but word of mouth on social media is. So I would think the same principles apply. Meh...
