this will almost certainly be gone by tuesday. it's something we are allowing to play out for a few days because we need to pay the bills now more than ever.

what about implementing a small subscription system or something? For example, for $5/m you get enhanced features (unlimited time for editing posts, custom user title/colored name, access to certain forums etc). Even if you only convert a small %, it could help the monthly revenue considering the number of registered users here is massive

Why stop there? Why not launch a Two Plus Two-branded training site with vetted premium content?

Of course, for that to work, the person at the helm would have to have a solid understanding of how the various games of poker are studied and played in 2020.

Turns out we need to look at this further. The ad can be dismissed. I understand it comes back with a page refresh and if you find it particularly annoying it means you have to click it off again. And I understand that can be particularly annoying.

I don't have a problem on my desktop. I use Firefox and I think it may have a bug that stops a lot of ads from loading.

But occasionally, I use a small tablet for web browsing - Kindle Fire - that doesn't have that issue. In order to navigate the web site I need to zoom the screen so my fat fingers don't hit a link I don't intend to. The stupid ad on the bottom takes awhile to load and then pops up taking half the screen, causing all kinds of misclicks. It makes browsing 2+2 extremely tedious and unpleasant.

Pretty short sighted strat here. Seems like you run the risk of people researching solutions to invasive ad practices and then finding an option that stops all ads thus reducing your overall revenue.

Its a problem using a lap top screen on every page. Won't even try to load on Ipad. Don't know why you want the ads, no one will click on them unless by mistake. Most folks get exasperated enough to not support any advertisers they see.

I'm much less likely to visit this site on my tablet if that's true, which is how I usually view it. (It's not as big of a deal on my desktop, but then I can only go to the site when I have some free time at work, like right now.)

FWIW, I'd be willing to pay a reasonable subscription fee to get 2+2 entirely ad free.

I assume >90% of clicks are accidental. Especially from mobile devices which is probably the standard way of using the forums for the majority of users unless they are browsing while working on a desktop/laptop.

I usually make the font larger to make reading easier on my eyes. When I do that, the "x" in the top right corner is no longer there. I am stuck with the ad unless I make the font a little smaller.
