As I said before, he is the Libertarian nominee, and will (hopefully) be on the general election ballot in all 50 states. Obviously he isn't going to win, but I think the ultimate goal is to get him on the debate stage with Obama and Romney. He's going to need all the support he can get to get 15% in the polls to make it up there.

we can haz advertisements, twoplustwo?

I highly doubt they'd turn down his campaign buying some.

Yes but they were free last time. Does Mason still support him?

I had Gov. Johnson on my webcast last year. I offered to have him back again, either as a featured guest or to have him provide a quick update on the campaign and a plug for the link to his donate page. I also wished to see if there was anything else I could do, mentioning that I voted for Ron Paul in 2008 and this year, I voted for the Libertarian presidential ticket in 2008, and that I appreciate his support for poker. I also mentioned that the Barr campaign thanked me in person for some social media help (unrelated to my poker stuff) for their campaign.

My first email was greeted with a short "sorry...he's too busy," without any mention of hoping to try for a different day or time. My subsequent emails have gone unanswered.

Perhaps now that's he's getting onto The Daily Show and on cable news for interviews, the campaign thinks this is all small potatoes. I really don't know.

So what you're saying is that a political candidate sweet-talked a special interest group for his own benefit, and he brushed it aside once it was no longer necessary to his needs?

Politicians gotta politick.

Apparently they didn't get other politicians to even do that?

He risked the votes of some other marginal groups in the process, those who are mostly WRONG.

Well, it's 2+2's money to do with as they please. Just seems the early objections may have been warranted.

That a sleazy politician would try to use such a big forum is hardly surprising. That Mason & co fell for it, was quite a bit more surprising though.

Did they fall for it, or are they part of the machine? I'm sure 2+2 benefitted in some way. They're generally pretty smart businessmen, after all.

Fighting for the survival of poker. Maybe there's something in that for 2+2?

They can be my guest.

In what kind of scenario would GJ ever mean anything to pokers survival? At the very best, he might've mentioned poker in some televised debate.

If he mentioned poker in a positive way on TV that's clearly a win. Don't know how big a win, but at microstakes I've learned to appreciate small wins also

iirc, Mason originally contacted Johnson, not the other way around. Keep that in mind.

Also, poker isn't the only important issue. The PATRIOT act, NDAA, wars overseas, war on drugs ...

Good poker even became an issue, imo.

But naturally you are right. Good to remember there's a "real" world out there

Yea - and they're all things Gary Johnson will never have any real influence on.

It won't matter.

People watching debates don't watch them to be convinced by one side or the other - they watch them to cheer on the side they already agree with.
