Not an iphone, because **** Apple. But no doubt one which children mined the tin for. All manufacturers likely use tin mined by children. What kind of phone do you own? What OS? Which version?

Or they could like, you know, just pay the execs less money and make a little less profit, but still make a killing. They could raise iphone prices 3x, or lower executive pay by what, a couple percent?

Have you seen the hour long documentary the report is based on? You should watch it. Maybe that would be a little SJW though.

Mcdonalds' prices have gone up significantly over the years as well.

Not really interested in comic analysis.

This was not made in America. $375 bucks. Very low cost!

Cows, like Noodle (American Apparel was one of the most blatant examples of self-ownage I've seen in awhile) you just have no clue. It'd be too tiring to try and explain this to you all because your starting point is the latest episode of Last Week Tonight. But keep blaming the rich for all the worlds evils--that should get you far.

But I will check out that documentary.

Still curious what phone, OS, and OS version you use.

They sell around 200 million iPhones each year, I believe. Tripling the price should net them around $240 billion. $240 billion is 2% of...$12 trillion.

Impressive bonuses.

You're showing an amazing lack of knowledge or critical thinking if you believed changing executive pay would make even the slightest difference in the price of an iPhone. 2% making up for tripling the price of an iPhone shows...a complete disconnect from reality.

Now, I doubt that making the iPhone completely ethically would cost anywhere near triple. But even if we drop that to $100 a phone, executive pay isn't going to help. I see in their SEC filings last year, they registered that their 6 executives were paid ~$125 million. That's a **** of a lot of money. But...it's 62.5 cents per phone.

So tripling the cost of an iphone would net them around $240 billion. Great! It sounds like they can allow their labor force to unionize, pay them better wages, and still lower the price of their Iphone by dipping into their off shore tax havens, in addition to lowering executive pay.

The world's most profitable firm has a secretive new structure that would enable it to continue avoiding billions in taxes, the Paradise Papers show.

They reveal how Apple sidestepped a 2013 crackdown on its controversial Irish tax practices by actively shopping around for a tax haven.

It then moved the firm holding most of its untaxed offshore cash, now $252bn, to the Channel Island of Jersey.

Those are really good ideas Cow. Once you figure out the difference between price and cost you should write them down and send your proposals to Cook.

And gates and buffet will be giving almost all of it away to charity (not sure about Bezos).

Not sure what the point of those statistics serve other than as tools by politically motivated people to incite and anger the public. Reading Cows' rantings demonstrates the effectiveness of that campaign.

Also, since Apple's tax avoidance was brought up, I'll make the point that Apple has a legal duty to avoid as much tax as possible. I'd like to see that more of that money repatriated but blaming Apple is absurd.
11-09-2017 , 01:50 AM
lol you're hilariously sad. Yeah what's the point in pointing out that three people have more wealth than the bottom 50% of America? It's not like it means anything at all! Apple is supposed to be off shoring hundreds of billions of dollars in 0% tax havens! This is fine!

Get woke dude.

This stuff is so far over your head Cows you're like 'It's a bird, it's a plane'

And yes, Apple is absolutely supposed to do that, and you'd know that if you knew what a fiduciary duty was.

Get woke? You're a parody m'lady.

My criticism of Wookie in this thread are spot on the money, or you wouldn't be pulling out the N word. He breaks the rules of modding all the time with arbitrary bans to further his politics.

I have never been banned from any forum. Wookie is the only mod who ever has, and he only did it - perma, no warning - after I questioned his philosophy. Like OP here. I cross the line of SJW-defined decency often and I'm a legitimate politics ban, so I'm not arguing that I'm a case of bad modding from Wookie.

But there are many that are. You can see him above trying to force OP to agree to his personal non-mainstream political view in order to reenter the politics forum.
No, I called you a Nazi because your posting history has a track record that points that way. Which is strongly reinforced with your inelegant Daily Stormer/Breibart vocabulary. You even admit above.

It's amusing you try to hide behind philosophy as well. You think Nazis didn't have their own philosophers? The name Heidegger ring a bell? Philosophy has never granted anyone immunity from being a bigoted idiot.

You're not clever enough to hide you're a bigot.

Analysis of the wealth of America’s richest people found that Gates, Bezos and Buffett were sitting on a combined $248.5bn (£190bn) fortune. The Institute for Policy Studies said the growing gap between rich and poor had created a “moral crisis”.
How much wealth should these three have?

Also why stop with these three.

Wealth Inequality in the USA
Quote:
Wealth inequality in the United States (also known as the wealth gap[2]) is the unequal distribution of assets among residents of the United States. Wealth includes the values of homes, automobiles, personal valuables, businesses, savings, and investments.[3] The net worth of U.S. households and non-profit organizations was $94.7 trillion in the first quarter of 2017, a record level both in nominal terms and purchasing power parity.[4] Divided equally among 124 million U.S. households, this would be $760,000 per family. However, the bottom 50% of families, representing 62 million households, average $11,000 net worth.[5]

Just prior to President Obama's 2014 State of the Union Address, media[6] reported that the top wealthiest 1% possess 40% of the nation’s wealth; the bottom 80% own 7%; similarly, but later, the media reported, the "richest 1 percent in the United States now own more additional income than the bottom 90 percent".[7] The gap between the top 10% and the middle class is over 1,000%; that increases another 1,000% for the top 1%. The average employee "needs to work more than a month to earn what the CEO earns in one hour."[8] Although different from income inequality, the two are related. In Inequality for All—a 2013 documentary with Robert Reich in which he argued that income inequality is the defining issue for the United States—Reich states that 95% of economic gains went to the top 1% net worth (HNWI) since 2009 when the recovery allegedly started.[9] More recently, in 2017, an Oxfam study found that eight rich people, six of them Americans, own as much combined wealth as half the human race.[10][11][12]
How would you go about fixing this if you were POTUS? Obama proposed higher taxes and a higher minimum wage to address this. Sklansky proposes a 90% tax bracket, a minimum wage of how much would "fix" this?

It's about income and saving too. Say Gates gets ten billion per year. A "poor" gets say ten thousand a year. Then Gates' income equals 1,000,000 of the "poors" incomes. Much but not half America.

You could also say all Americans collectively own much of the infrastructure.

Just for getting some facts right. But still too much inequality.

Don't you just love how these guys resort to the latest magic put-down word (i.e. "Nazi") whenever they can't argue the actual point being made.

I wonder how long it's going to be before the word "Nazi" gets devalued to the point of being almost meaningless through overuse, like the word "racist" has.

More goal post shifting. I can see you've never studied formal logic, which is a shame, because you might have learned about the obvious logical fallacies you keep engaging in.
