Judging by what he's posted since the thread started, he seems pretty sure the problem is that people noticed him posting vile things, not the vile posts themselves. Basically the "blame the smoke alarm for your house burning down" syndrome we’ve seen overtake a lot of people on the right lately.

I am white, but I'm not rich, and I don't think you or Mason or Zeno (know less about him) are bigots. I disagree with Mason's politics but I very much respect what he has built here and generally how the site is run.

2p2 is probably my favorite place on the internet - poker attracts a unique sort of person and I think one that I generally enjoying discussing things with.

I don't think it's useful to take the criticisms you mention as attacks for their own sake - I think anyone paying attention to the culture would realize that the world is changing and anyone with a platform (including 2p2) needs to be mindful of that in how they operate their platform.

That doesn't mean you thought police or you don't allow speech you don't like. What it does mean is that you have a lower tolerance for the type of rhetoric that is hateful, inaccurate, and dangerous - speech that is essentially the worst kind of propaganda. Of course you can choose to allow it, but I think the point is that doing so dilutes your space as a place where thinking people will want to spend their internet time. You can be the smartest guy in the world, but when you're ranting about Indians, you're not contributing. Discourage that behavior.

So it's not "2p2 sucks, I don't want to come here because of the dumb **** people post," it's "I appreciate 2p2 as a place where smart people can converse; there should be standards in place to keep it that way."

Ze appears to meet ze's design purpose as ambiguous identifier for use in specialized writing where more specific details of people referenced in the writing are unwanted or unneeded. That which appears to meet a design purpose of making specialized writing more independent of influences that may come in by more specifically identifying people.

So ze is a solution for ze problem of people reading extra things into other people's states of identity when examining specialized writing.

Zeno is a less than perfect poster who has added, and still adds value to the forum. It's worth addressing, but I don't think any action is necessary. I would be fine having conversation with Zeno irl even if his ranting about nuking people and Indians and such are off-putting and the opposite of thought provoking. zikzac's right that he comes across as behind the times, btw. or however he put it.

I liked when Zeno was ****ting all over some poster for their uninformed views about how NASA works and it turned out the guy was a program manager at NASA responsible for a multi-million dollar budget. Good times.

I think I got permabanned for this once already.....but have you just thought about doing your job better? I get that its not your dream job or anything. But if you treated it like most of us treat our jobs (not calling people ****ing dildos etc) I think it would go a long way to fixing the "racist, moron mod" problem that seems to cause you so much grief.

You might be right. Forgive me for the late reply. My dog has an infected foot and it took me awhile to figure out how to properly use the e-collar I got from the vet.
