Well, no sense repeating what I ready said, it's not like my experience and observations are going to change because anyone else drives a contrary narrative.

I haven't mentioned that I have challenge Zeno on a few occasions related to SMP on-topic content and he didn't act like a bigot, but someone with a strong opinion about what content should go where. He was kind of harsh with one or two posters he thought was proliferating religious dogma in the forum, but they seemed to have worked it out.

So much prejudice is going around these days, it makes sense to me to have higher priorities towards acting to stop it than picking out misanthropic rants of well-read writer from an mostly anonymous Internet forum.

There is no other reason to bring it up in the context of that derogatory rant. We know from his other posting his opinion of organized religion. It’s also prejudiced to assume an Indian is a practicing Hindu.


That’s not the only reason for the asymmetry. The main reason is the history of inequality, and the fact that African-Americans are a still a vulnerable minority. You can make an anti-white racist statement, and it’s like water off a duck’s back because they aren’t a vulnerable group in the way African-Americans are. Anti-black racist statements help perpetuate attitudes that prolong inequality.

Calling out reverse-racism has been a goto strategy of white supremacists, white nationalists, and the like. David Duke has used this for decades. He uses it to claim he is anti-racism across the board. It looks compelling until you realize he was a KKK Grand Wizard, and then you see what this is really about. That's why people who assert reverse-racism claims as you have are often assumed to be racists.

I think it would be not good if people began to parrot phrasings like "**** the Irish" and "Hindu cow worshipers," and as a community leader he should consider censoring this stuff out, which he may already have.

I don't think his comments are deserving of more than scorn though. In private his words wouldn't incite more than an eyeroll in most places -- if not encourage jocular discourse with comrades.

Those posts by Zeno obviously don't come across very well. Fwiw I don't recognise him as a poster. Personally I would hope a mod would be a bit more moderate in their posting. If I had an issue regarding the forums I would definitely not approach someone who posted things like that to try and resolve whatever my issue was.
