I'm not a fan of the new forum. The negative space gives it more of a modern look, but that kind of look isn't as efficient for navigation which is way more important.

2p2 is perfect as it is. Will be a shame to see it change.

I don't understand this at all. It doesn't feel like a financial issue because you've migrated to a paid platform when there are many open source ones.

I get that people always hate it when the design they've grown accustomed to is switched up - but this feels more than that.

I've always hated the 2p2 UI and yet seeing the new option makes me lustful for the current one.

Just feels like a missed opportunity to get feedback from the community. Furthermore, a lot of the community has specific expertise in this kind of stuff and would have possibly donated some time helping if asked in advance given the amount of time they spend here.

I read all the posts here before clicking the link. I’ve been on many forums and appreciate the variety of formats. I thought it surely can’t be as bad as everyone is saying. They’re just afraid of change itself, I figured.

Then I clicked on it...It is significantly worse than I could have imagined. Not just in the look but also in the navigation features and info provided. I’m hoping that the theme it’s displayed in not only looks the worst out of other options but is also missing many user interface features available in other themes. But it seems unlikely that the worst theme among many would have been chosen for this demo. Is this as good as it gets?

I agree , despite sum1 saying it looks more modern , I really love how unique and neatly organized the current 2+2 is. The theme isn't the typical layout I see on most forums and obviously bias of being very accustomed and used to 2+2's current look and functionality.

The preview reminds me of a old forum my runescape clan threw together with a default template and very little effort maybe ~10 years ago now.
Also somewhat reminds me of reddit with a very temporary default layout that is hard to navigate or checkout threads that are ongoing as everything looks the same.


Would be very curious on an expansion on how this is a 'forced' change with no other options available. I assume it's not a money thing because I am sure a forum this big could throw up a little donate link to hit the monthly cost total or w.e no problem.

When people ask about the golden age of online forums 2p2 is always mentioned. Along with SA and maybe one or two others. At this point 2p2 is a living piece of what I guess will be known as early WWW history. Seems sad to throw away a part of that, especially if the new design isn't a particular improvement.

If using Chrome, Edge, etc you can install the Stylus extension and then the 'Nightmode' theme which works generally on every site you visit.

Is this a lead up to an epic april fools troll?
