[*]Simplify the website structure to make it more intuitive for newcomers.
This is such a massive mistake, at least in the way it is listed in the screenshot. I understand that current volume in many forums is by my estimation ~10% of what it was a decade ago, but merging very distinct communities and expanding the breadth of each forum is not the way to do it. Instead of merging micro, small, mid, and high stakes together, just keep a minimum of 2 stake levels for each type of games (Micro stakes to 1/2 and 2/4+) and for nearly dead formats like SNGs merge them with the most similar game type(s). At a minimum these are the categories that should exist for game formats:
Online NL up to 1/2
Online NL 2/4+
Live SSNL
Live HSNL
PLO up to 1/2 (including any Omaha variants like 5C, 6C, double board, etc)
PLO 2/4+ (including any Omaha variants like 5C, 6C, double board, etc)
Low Stakes MTTs/SNGs
High Stakes MTTs/SNGs
Low stakes "Other" games
High stakes "Other" games
I have never really been a member of any of the NL forums, but I've been reading both the SSPLO and HSPLO forums for over a decade and both have (had) very distinct communities with minimal crossover between the posters in each forum. Merging all of the communities of each game type together is not going to revive activity in the new subforums, it will only exacerbate the rate at which the forums overall dry up.
