I fully agree.
It can't be that complicated, see, for example, this.

chytry, you forgot to write "bump".

Can see LirvA is temp-banned again. Why? WHY?

Edit: think I found the answer. Bumping somewhat out of control.

it was terrible when it was unintentionally tried. it has to be really subtle to not be annoying. the linked forum example would suck.

Agree. I recall it was one of the greater flops we have seen here. As expected, some people made a sport of "liking" a number of posts in a row, because it looked funny.

There would be some childish behaviour at first but that would soon subside.
Not implementing it in BBV and NVG could be a good option.

this idea still sucks

The way it was implemented when it happened by accident was awful. Below is a good way to do it. RB said that he thought it could be done this way with the next upgrade and that he was on board with the idea, but now that he's gone I don't know if we'll get a chance to try it out on B&M.

+1 (10)

...next to the quote and multiquote buttons. The +1 would be clickable until you click it and clicking it would increase the number in parentheses by one. The number in parentheses also would be clickable and clicking it would reveal the names of the posters who have clicked the +1 link/button.

Negligible "clutter" added to the site, allows users to have useful feedback, preserves the "human feel/feedback" facet of "+1"-type posting, and eliminates a bunch of redundant posts in threads where there is one correct answer or only a handful of possible responses/outcomes.

It would be fine to have another small clickable button next to the Quote/Multi buttons on the right with just +/- sign to vote and a single total of votes, e.g. ↑24 or ↓9 etc

If anything more than this is displayed it is just irritating

I'm against it too. It's a kind of elitism/dumbness that I resist. Either you have the popular guys getting all the votes, or then the mainstream idea without fantasy. Then you have the revenge by the outliers, which can take many different disturbing forms.

While we're at it, "BAN OP" and "NO U" buttons would be great timesavers in BBV4L.

Keen insight after being on the site for 8 minutes.

QFT

unnecessary post but necessary here

I thought there was a BAN OP button?

02-06-2012 , 09:48 PM
How about a Random button (takes you to random threads in all different forums that are new and old)?
02-06-2012 , 11:16 PM
I am sure I am late to the party, but I've really been enjoying the up and down votes over at reddit the last several months.

Nah, when that even works it's more often an "infract OP" button.

Yes, it would be enjoyed especially by the trolls. Yet another good idea sabotaged...

Looks you got enough though and came back here, to the forum seriously taken.

Hello, not sure if this has been raised before, but why not let participants push a like/dislike button on posts to show they agree/disagree with it?

It would reduce "I'm with/against 'em" posts that have no other content, reduce mod workload on policing said posts, and still give participants an avenue to minimally say yea or nea that have no other constructive comment.

Can't be too hard to program, many other forums and comment sections have them already. What's the harm or negative to having it?

Thoughts?
