Worst run of poker in my life - should I quit if I'm running bad but playing solid? Worst run of poker in my life - should I quit if I'm running bad but playing solid?

I consider myself a very solid player even though I'm not advanced by any means. Still learning all the lingo on this site and appreciate all your support. I'm a winning low stakes player and am slowly building a bankroll. I raise with good hands, rarely limp, play TAG, and am slowly starting to deal with tilt better and better. I took 5-6 consecutive TERRIBLE BEATS (not in a row but in a 2-hour session), and lost almost half my bankroll. After all this, I still didn't go on tilt that badly which I give a lot of credit to myself for. Here is a summary of the hands and what happened playing 25NL:

-I called a MP raise to .75 with AQ hearts from CO, another guy calls from SB. Flop comes 4h 8h Td. Checked down to me, I bet 1.5 to build a pot and guy from SB calls. Turn comes Qs. He checks, I shove against a loose donk he instacalls with JJ! WTF? River comes Jd. I had an A, Q, or any heart as my outs in in case he had KK but I pretty much told myself I wasn't folding no matter what after seeing that flop.

- I limp with 33, call a raise to 1.10 from villain on CO. Flop came 3 4 K rainbow. We both check. Turn comes J. I bet $2 with flush and straight draws on board. He calls, river comes K. I have a boat, bet $4 he shoves for 15, I instacall, he turns over 44. Boat over boat is pretty sick but happened to me before.

- At an EXTREMELY tight table, I limp UTG with AA, guy from CO raises to .75, 1 person calls from SB and I flat call which I do rarely to disguise the strength of my hand. Flop comes 3 8 9 and 2 hearts. I bet 1.73 into 2.25, 1 guy folds, guy from SB calls. Turn comes brick 2c, he checks, I bet $5. He goes all in for 18, I instacall he turns over QQ, river comes a Q. That was str8 dirtyness, I almost puked.

- I raise PF in LP with AA to 0.89, I get 1 caller flop comes 7 hi, he bets $1, I shove for 12 with flush and str8 draws on the flop against an aggressive donk - he turns over 77. This is even ok cuz Aces always get cracked I'm immune to it now.

- I raise with 88 from CO to .89, 1 caller and I'm in position. Flop comes 10c 10h 8h. He checks, I check. Turn comes Kd. He checks, I bet $1 he raises to $2 I go all in for 14, He instacalls with A10, river comes 10. This was dirty and I was in shock for 30 mins. I decided to quit after this. And now im sitting here almost doubting my poker skills/extremely dicsouraged about poker in general and whether I can recover.

- There was one other pot where I had AQ, lost to A5o in a raised pot but thats not as bad, it happens.

-----I know this isn't common but does this happen to anyone? Should I quit a session just because I'm running bad? Every time I build my bankroll to a certain level, it drops and then I build it back to that same level then it drops agian and I'm not sure why. I'd appreciate any tips.

Not that I know of.

I'm not sure, but I think you might be the first person this sort of thing has ever happened to.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Its ok if ppl tl;dr this I know its long as ***. But woww thats not encouraging. Cuz usually when I bring up a bad beat story theres always someone who cant wait to tell me a worse one. I had enough after this shieet. I need to take a break and recover.

you are not as good as you think you are. besides the questionable play in these hands which I won't get into (no strat in bbv), you are shortstacking 25nl, and still managed to lose half your bankroll after 6 beats? move down bro, well either that or move up to where they respect your limps..

OP, if you are a "solid", but not great player, the swings are going to come, nobody who is average can run from variance.

You have 3 choices:

(x) don't accept the variance and whine,
( ) accept the variance and the fact that you are barely a break even/winning player,
( ) or become a better player, much better,

It is as simple as that...

play lower stakes, you ran bad but it seems unlikely you're ready to beat 25nl judging by what you posted here...

if you lost half your bankroll from a few bad beats it means your not rolled for the game. Drop down stakes so you have less swings + more fish = more money and less stress

Neither a woman's breast nor a homosexual are proper three-letter metaphors. I share your concern.

I do admit I may not be as good as I think but I'm always open to criticism. Yea, in certain situations I am the king of slowplay. In none of these hands did I have something vulnerable like a 2 pair in a limp pot or top top. I had monsters in raised pots and depending on board texture, I dont scare ppl out especially if I flop a set or a boat. I was a HUGE favorite in all these hands and came out the loser. I guess I'll play more aggressive but me not betting my hands wasn't the problem here.

Sometimes the cards don't work out for ya. Problem is they get the final say. It's not a 100% skill game. If you get your money in good you're doing your part. Learn about probability and statistics and see the big picture. And keep praying if it keeps your tilt under control.
